So much for running it back.

I have no idea which free agents we're losing and which ones are coming back. If we lost all of them so what? Nice players but not core players vital to the success of this franchise. They can all be replaced. We won the championship, players around the league want a piece of what we are building, and we have A LOT of cap space compared to most. I'm not at all concerned about who may leave. Some of those players I like more than others and don't want to see them on another team but it's a business and all are replaceable to some extent. MM and JS know what they want and are eye to eye now and I choose to continue my faith and they have an idea of what they are doing.

Hawkblogger has turned in to such drama poster. "Godspeed Rashid"? So He's signed with someone else already? No, he hasn't, but HB is willing to "bend the truth" to get those clicks. Personally, I find it dishonest, and it reflects poorly on his reputation as a straight shooter.

We've been seeing too much of this crap since we won the Superbowl, and I've turned it all off, finding my reading elsewhere because people are talking such shit now. According to them, Ken Walker, and every other FA we have, has been gone for weeks now, Dexter Lawrence has retired, they've traded all of our draft picks and 3 players for Maxx Crosby, and all of our coaches are going to work somewhere else.

It's desperate, beat the other guy to the punch reporting. Just like the "Emergency podcast! The Seahawks are going to be up for sale!" What garbage. Posting old news as breaking news.

The only place I read anymore is on here, and the regular draft sites. Even some of those I've clicked on less and less. I look at the overall draft picture, to see what every other team is doing, and trying to figure out how that's going to effect us.

But these headlines playing things off as breaking news, and the player is already gone, pure bs. John lets players test free agency every year, this is nothing new. The ones that get overpaid, end up somewhere else and get replaced by another player who, next year at this time, will be played off as "irreplaceable."

Oh yeah, Paul Moyer, the one that said we'd go undefeated with 5 or so games left, said that DeMarcus Lawrence is not retiring, "He's making good money, had one of the best years of his career, and is having the time of his life. But the pundits keep bringing up, "he was thinking of retiring last year." Yeah, long before he came across the Seahawks.

If he was so in to retiring last year, then why was he hunting up teams to play on last year? Why did he sign a multi-year contract? Utter bs.

There are certainly some guys I'm hoping to keep, but I don't think anyone we could lose is absolutely vital. My bigger concern with the likelihood of "running it back" is sustaining our incredible injury luck, particularly after playing a 20 game season.
...especially now that Kyler Murray will be available.

This. I'm going to put that on a Tshirt.

Totally this. With JS and MM at the helm, I honestly think we have a chance at contending for the next 5 years running.

NEVER would have said that with PC here. Never.

Good point. I know I get accused of being pom pom boy and all that. But...........this truly does seem like a team who's just getting started. I can't imagine them not being a contender the next few years, minimum.

There isn't a single starter on defense that I would place Shaheed or Walker above. I would absolutely take any defensive starter over them. We won with an overwhelming defense that matched up well against almost every team, and on offense it wasn't Mr 21 yards per game (Shaheed) doing the damage, it was JSN.

If Shaheed played all 17 games with the Hawks he was on pace for only 355 receiving yards last year, which would rank #120 among receivers. Not even in the top 100 WR. I've been following the Hawks for almost 40 years, and if it weren't for Percy Harvin being a hawk at one point I would put Shaheed as the most overrated WR in franchise history.

Can anyone name a WR who was slobbered over as much as he is despite only averaging 21 receiving yards? I've just never seen it. With all the slobbering going on you would think he was a 1000 yard receiver for us. He wasn't. He was Mr 21 yards
Regarding Shaheed, I honestly think it was that punt return TD vs the Rams that elevated his status so completely.

His numbers as a receiver were easily replaceable. Sure he can 'stretch the field' but so can MVS and plenty of rookie WRs.

Even as a returner, his averages do not seem exceptional.

It was that one TD (and arguably the opening kickoff vs the 9ers). Sure, return TDs are exciting and nice when they happen, but the reality is they are perhaps the most volatile and unpredictable stat that exists. We could play LA 20 more times and it's unlikely to repeat. How much higher are the chances with Shaheed than the multiple returners in the league who averaged near/above him for yards and TDs and are on rookie contracts?

I'd love to keep the guy too, but let's at least recognize what we'd be paying for.

Good points! I saw a “headline” earlier today that a major Seahawks player is hanging it up at 29. The player? Marquise Blair. Didn’t know he was still even playing anywhere. I’m at the point where dot net is the place I go for real Seahawks news.

With all these free agents leaving, this will NOT be anything near the team that just won the Super Bowl. Just sayin’.
IKR. I just wish they had competent people who actually cared about next year - who are aware of the situation - and who could already be planning for some of these changes.

Please note that I did NOT say the team would be bad. I said it would not be the same. I’m just disappointed that so many of our (okay, MY) favorite players will be gone.
To be fair - you did say next season's team will not be "anything near" this past season's. Perhaps you meant far above vs. far below?

This is what we always do. Never invest in the first round of free agency, that's how you build a bad team. You invest in the second and third rounds of free agency , this is where we always find the gems on good deals.

It's par for the course and to be expected under JS.
