I can't recall a top tier player saying I'll give them a discount, EVER, role players sure due to having a niche on a team, aging veterans wanting to stick around, yep. Thats about it.

The Rams paid Atwell $10M last season, (with zero plan for the 5th year in a row), but I wouldn't compare Atwell to Shaheed.

You're leaving out that other guys are ascending though. Derrick Hall should be better. Witherspoon, Murphy are ascending, Barner, Darnold finished the year with zero turnovers and could be ascending in this offense, Horton when healthy looked like a monster.

Mafe had 2 sacks and for me isn't great. I think Hall could easily recoup that. We do have to find something at running back but that is one of the easiest positions to do so. I think Okada filling in for Bryant didn't see any dip in the defense.

I'm not saying you're all wrong but while we lost a couple of guys we also have some guys who will be better this year than they were last year.

There's something that should be obvious to any impartial observer after this early free agent period: this is now the third-best team in the NFC West. Third-best coaching, third-best talent.

While the dynasty thing would have been cool, no amount of an inevitable short-term future of fringe playoff contention and picking 18th-20th in the draft will take away from how fun this past season was. Go Hawks.
