Suggesting there are better QBs is not the same as saying I think we should trade Darnold. I would think even this board isn't delusional enough to rank him first in the league.
The same coaching staff, and basically the same team, that went 6-2 vs the NFC West (4-2 vs the other two good teams) is suddenly the third best? There's something that should be obvious to any impartial observer after this early free agent period: this is now the third-best team in the NFC West. Third-best coaching, third-best talent.
While the dynasty thing would have been cool, no amount of an inevitable short-term future of fringe playoff contention and picking 18th-20th in the draft will take away from how fun this past season was. Go Hawks.
When I was a lil gaffer, I had a record that was the same way...it was also very annoying.I’ve noticed a trend.
Do you have anything positive to say about what JS/MM are doing?
Or are you just upset about them paying the one guy?
How many times have you typed “21 yards” in the last few days?
All serious questions
Sadly, many prefer comforting lies to uncomfortable truths. When I was a lil gaffer, I had a record that was the same way...it was also very annoying.![]()
I think Jazzhawk might be the Director of Player Personnel for Cleveland.I think JazzHawk is busy playing Jazz.
I don't "prefer" doom and gloom, some things are just doomy and gloomy and I don't make a habit of lying to myself.Sadly, many prefer doom and gloom and can never just admit they were wrong, about anything, ever.
I was starting to regret bringing in that month-old quote of yours, but I think it's been good for you.Typically, you need to experience something before you can be "used to it".
But if you did, would you know it?I don't "prefer" doom and gloom, some things are just doomy and gloomy and I don't make a habit of lying to myself.
I don't disagree with any of that. There's a reason I haven't suggested attempting to replace him.I was starting to regret bringing in that month-old quote of yours, but I think it's been good for you.
Regarding your comment about us not being delusional enough to think Sam is the best in the league - 'best in the league' doesn't always win Super Bowls. Sam fits out team, arguably better than a few quarterbacks who we might argue are "better". Argue all you want, but Sam has exceptional physical quarterback skills. And when you look at his 'team' skills, he's much better than Aaron Rodgers. Then look at his pure 'decision-making' skills on the field, and you put him miles above Dak Prescott. Watching Mahomes this year, I wonder if Sam isn't also a little better at handling adverse situations - possibly from qb'ing on bad teams - than Mahomes or even Stafford. There's a lot more to being a 'great' quarterback than stats.

His red zone play went from horrible to 'really good' at the end of the season. From what I remember, at the end of the season when Darnold was so good in the red zone, Kubiak did not avoid the kinds of plays that Darnold mucked up earlier in the season. In fact, Darnold described in an interview, plays in the red zone where he threw the ball out of bounds when it wasn't safe. I remember a few of those plays late in the season, and they weren't horribly uncatchable, but no way the defender was getting them.First time he throws an interception, you probably will.

It’s funny how you get two choices, salary cap and you lose all your players all the time, or no cap and you get the dodgers. It’s almost like dh vs no dh, purist vs realist, elements of both are funNo doubt, VERY few saw this is a SB team. Shoot, many of us. I figured next year they would make the SB. Pleasant surprise. Like someone mentioned, about a 30 percent turnover. Esp. if a team win the SB, they're flat out going to have players plucked.
Expecting the same roster every year is just not realistic. Frustrating, but not reality. Every team will have turnover on their roster.
Am I concerned about the running game if we lose K9? Absolutely.
It'd be easier to take you seriously if you weren't suggesting Aiyuk is a significant loss. The Niners, though? They signed an aging Evans, and look to lose Jennings, Aiyuk, and Williams. Their offense still runs through CMC, who looks worse every year. Their defense is full of holes that may or may not be shorn up when their stars return from injury. They have one of the all-time chokingest of coaches, and they still haven't figured out how to keep their players healthy.
They have a ton of draft capital, with 7 picks in the top four rounds. That seems a much more likely area where they can drastically improve the team. I'm not impressed with their free agency moves, so far. They seem more like a Hail Mary, than a surgically focused plan.
