Just say no to Woolen. Even if he has to lower his demands, he is likely to be overpaid. Also if he was racking up unsportsmanlike conduct penalties in his contract year, what would he do once his money is guaranteed and he's set?

I will say, though, that I'm surprised teams are actually punishing him for it. Most teams are willing to ignore transgressions if they think the talent is there. Do teams think he is more a product of our system?

A reasonable contract for the Hawks to take on would be in the 3-year, 8-10 million AAV range. I'm sure he has pipe dream of 18-20. I'm happy to let him test the market, and if someone else wants to pay him that, then good riddance. Sometimes the realization that you didn't just cost your team, you cost yourself 20-30 million dollars is enough to finally jar some sense into a bonehead.
I agree. Let him test the market. If the price is reasonable then bring him back. The positives far outweigh the negatives IMO.

I think there's a disconnect between what Woolen thinks he's worth and his actual value. Reputable sites like Spotrac project that Woolen could get a 4 year deal over $60 million ($15 million per year), and there are corners who are not superstars who are getting that much, like Cor'Dale Flott. So I'm sure Woolen has it in his head that he's going to get a big bag.

But Woolen's ranking among CBs is all over the map. Some advance metrics rate him as a below-average corner. PFF has him as the 66th ranked cornerback. That isn't going to get you $15 million per year. I don't know how the Seahawks coaching staff sees Woolen, but I'm sure they have a number they would sign him at, and they aren't going to go over that amount.

The best I'd offer Woolen is a 1 year deal @ not alot of money. No more. He helps with experienced depth, and a big chance for him to mature, show his talent, and MAYBE get paid a year later than expected. <--- But not here.

Do the dots represent how many times he's gonna' taunt the opponent and cost his team in 2026?
Possibly. It definitely doesnt say he just became the highest paid corner in the league and is coming back to Seattle. I could be wrong though 🤷🏽‍♂️.

Fair points..but after that taunting penalty in the NFCCG he gave up a TD the next play.

Then it took the Rookie Emmanwori to get in his face. In the end we won, but we would have coasted to the Super Bowl without the penalty.

Then he gave up the first TD in the Superbowl.

Is he better (all things considered) then 10M/yr. In my opinion no…and this is his contract year.

He should not be on the roster next year
I was kind of wondering how the guy you are quoting missed that. Also, I don't see how anyone could say that taunting call wasn't deserved. The referee actually told him to shut up, Woolen ignored him and kept working his way down the sidelines with his beak flapping. The ref tried NOT to penalize him.

Metcalfe and Woolen are two guys who can individually cost their teams games, just through pure lack of emotional control. I wouldn't take him for $7M a year. And at that price he'd be on a very short leash.

The Cowboys franchised Pickens - send this problem to those suckers.

You know what's really weird? He never had a taunting call before this year. Maybe the league was cracking down for 2025, but that kind of surprises me. In any case, if the league continues their taunting policies, Woolen won't stop any more than Metcalfe has stopped exploding on the field.

Those two are game-changers. The inverse of Rashid.

I thoroughly remember him doing a throat slash when he FINALLY made a play. Next play, he gets owned for a TD.
Happened in my end zone, right in front of me.

I'd do 1 year $14mil or make it 2 years with next year being team friendly and an out for us

You beat me to it. I was thinking of posting something about this earlier. Did that ridiculous taunt in the NFC Championship game cost him millions? It could be legit.

I know I was less than a happy camper when that happened. That was a huge tipping point in the game. We were up 11 with 2 minutes left in the third quarter, and about to get the ball back. It was monumentally stupid.

I disagree, but this is such a legitimate point of view that it’s hard for me to argue at all
I mean he did cost us technically the first game of the season. He was so busy trying to get interceptions in that game he gave up a TD that sf won the game on. If he had batted the ball away it would’ve been game set Seattle W.

Yep, the game was basically over at that point. Esp. the way we were moving the ball. At the MINIMIM, even if they went 3 and out, they still are into the 4th quarter, up 11, punt it and at least make the Rams EARN another score. Not one play against Taunt boy.

Mike is done with him.
He was already on my sh** list, then he pulled that SELFISH crap in the NFC Championship. Nope. Good player when he's actually focused, but HELL NO. He put himself in front of the team and if it wasn't for Spoon bailing his a** out, we don't even make the SB.
I personally think they've moved on as well because he's just a headache for a coach like Macdonald but its possible if the cost came way down they would bring him back.

When the ref was telling Mike he would get him the number of the guy who had a personal foul and Mike saying "I already know" sort of told me everything I need to know about how Mike views Woolen lol.
I think that was the moment when Woolen was being kicked off the Hawks team.

I would be very shocked if Riq was back (and not the good sort of "shocked")

Yep. Beyond stupid. Let's make a play to end a drive, and then CHOOSE to talk smack to the MVP of the league.
Stafford ripped his heart out next play.
