Oh good! So if we keep Polanco, we can still beat the Dodgers in the World Series next year.

So that would be amusing. The two time WS champion Dodgers getting Diaz and Skubal in the same week. LOL If such a thing should happen, you'd have to think owners would start ganging up for a salary CAP push. It would have entered the completely ridiculous realm.

It is already ridiculous. The Mets, Dodgers, and Yankees have payrolls that are $250 million MORE than the Rays, Athletics or Marlins. Or put another way, the payroll of the Mets (or Dodgers) is more than the White Sox, Rays, Athletics and Marlins COMBINED.

Right. Long hated absence of payroll control in MLB, but with LA getting Ditz and Screwball, I guess all we can root for these days is just to win the division.

The majority of owners want a salary cap, and MLB will be pushing for it in negotiations with the players' union. The players' union opposes the cap, of course, although I've heard some commentators say that younger and less prominent players would like to see a salary cap that is based on the percentage of revenue. This, of course, depends also on a revenue sharing arrangement like the one that the NFL has. And that is the real hurdle, getting some kind of real revenue sharing, which is the underlying cause of the disparity between teams. What the other teams should tell the Yankees, Mets and Dodgers is that you guys need the rest of us in order to have a league, so share your wealth or else play in a league of your own.

No cap in baseball is what makes it so boring as a fan of most teams and why I don't care as much as I used to. The same 5-6 teams will make the playoffs every year and beat up on the lucky ones to just finally be there for once. This is why I never expect the Mariners to ever win it all. Once in a while a team gets lucky but for the most part it's the same teams year in and year out winning it all.

No salary cap in baseball is so becoming increasingly so utterly dumb and im not sure how anyone can defend it from an objective standpoint.

Its like if we started playing a game of Monopoly and a couple people just brought more of their own money to add to their side. Ok this is so fun... when you can just spend 20x what I spend and put me in a huge disadvantage from the start...

What I have a problem with is the payrolls of these top market teams,
you see that it's of 3-5 other MLB teams combined which is insane!
However, nobody seems to notice the luxury tax side of those payrolls,
I dare someone to look at it year by year because it increases even more
for every year that you're over, the Dodgers act like that tax is nothing and
maybe it isn't to them but add that to the payroll and tell me how much they
are really spending, it is pathetic.
I want a hard cap that every team has to follow and no more poor teams just
hoarding money either.
It's time to end this broken system that the players and owners have created.

The NFL has a pretty decent model. May not be perfect, but it basically works.

That and the fact rebuilds can happen pretty fast with good drafting. It sells hope even when your teams stinks and makes you want to tune in the next year.
