I was in the Chicago airport when he caught that pass and initially lost it cuz we won then I thought 'oh shit, he just got killed.' He will always be one of my favorite Seahawks for that play.

Tuh! If you knew anything Rocket, its that Percy Harvin's career is over, because he has some necrosis thing in his hip, and turf toe is a career ender. I mean didn't you pay attention in kindergarten? or were you too busy putting Play-doe in your hair???? HUH?!

There will be plenty of reps for Rice and Kearse in this offense. Percy has never been an every-down player. His playing style and usage demands that he's rotated in and out almost like an RB. There should be plenty of opportunity for Harvin, Rice, ADB, Kearse, and even Lockette/rookie. Fact is, Rice has qualities that others in the WR corps just plain lack. Can't teach height. He is also a threat to to take the top off a defense, which was sorely missing when he went down. Our defense is too easy to defend without that threat -- load the box, press one-on-one versus our receivers, game over. ADB, Kearse and Harvin bring their own unique qualities. Right now, I feel like the receiving group (including the TEs) is pretty well balanced and dynamic. Whatever we get from a rookie will be pure frosting, and that's due to Rice's re-signing. Hallmark of the PC/JS era: don't go into the draft with glaring holes in your roster. This was a crucial move.

Well I think if he has his health he is going to be working for a lot this year, long term deal, and no player wants to be gifted a Trophy, I am sure he appreciates the Ring and all but you want to be a guy that is involved in getting a honor such as that. He wants to be out there with his guys helping.

Also he stated last year he wanted to re ignite the magic he and Harvin had in Minny. Lots of things to look forward to from Rice.

Sidney Rice is the Franklin Gutierrez of the Seahawks. Everyones excited to see him here and what he would be like if healthy but he never makes it through a year. This really doesn't excite me much.

So were just pretending like 2012 didn't happen. Got it.

He's also missed 15 games in 3 years due to injury, and those knees aren't in the best of shape. I love Sid, but banking on him to be completely healthy and his old self is a risky proposition.

Wait, he only missed 1/3 of the games since he's been here? From the sounds of some of the posters here, he only played in three games since he's been here.

No, that would be Percy Harvin.

I remember when he was with the Vikings he would catch in the clutch all the time,He has done it with the Hawks but he hasn't been the same guy I remember..I know injuries take their toll and father time catches one
sooner or later..I think Rice deserves his shot and he will get one ...Make no mistake Pete won't think twice about cutting him if he doesn't have it anymore...The demand for excellence is known by all Hawks from the start of camp..

He was involved and not gifted a ring. Just cause he didn't finish the year doesn't mean he didn't contribute.

He was out so early he wasn't a player that made a impact during the season, Kearse, Tate and Baldwin took those allocades, Harvin was a flash and had his three major plays.

If your a number 1 receiver sitting and nursing on IR most the year and trying to get a bum knee working your not contributing normally, as a competitor you don't feel you earned things if your back ups making highlight plays.

The reason you don't understand is because you're stating your opinion as fact. People actually do care about on-field qualities. They just don't agree with you about the qualities Rice possesses.

I don't care about "qualities," I care about stats. Stats don't lie.

The fact is since Rice has played in Seattle he's averaged;

- 11 games
- 32 catches
- 4 TD's

So we can all wax poetic about how much we love Sidney, and love that he's coming back. But the fact is at this point in his career he is an average to below average often injured WR that has a lot of proving to do to justify the wheelbarrows of money we've paid him so far.

I hope he makes the team and shuts us all up. But this is not an exciting signing for me, because history says he's not going to do much.

Barring a complete change in our offensive philosophy, no WR will ever lead the NFL in stats. I don't see that happening. Sorry, but stats don't tell the whole story.
When on the field, rice made significant contributions, both in the catches he made, the blocks he threw in the running game, his ability to draw coverages off of others, and in his leadership and comaraderie with his team mates.

So, giving him another chance on what appears to be a team friendly deal is just fine by me.
