Great news! I will never forget the TD catch against Pats and now I will get to see more of the same.

If we go WR that early, the kids better be a stud instantly.

Golden Tate was a 2nd round pick and took a bit to shine. So.. no.. they don't have to be a stud "instantly"

Hmm, well I guess I don't get what you're trying to say. In one post, you're saying that you will be disappointed if we don't draft a WR in the first 64 picks, then you're saying the kid doesn't have to be a stud instantly. If a team is drafting a player in the 1st two rounds, they're expecting the kid to play and contribute right away. It's rare to see a Christine Michael, and the only reason we did that was our top two backs are talented and extremely durable.

The Rice move is more about depth. I think we were honestly fine with Harvin, Baldwin, and Kearse as our starting 3: Harvin is a proven stud, Baldwin is a proven producer (added bonus to him killing the Niners consistently), and Kearse came on insanely strong at the end of the year and should improve....even if he stays the same for an entire year that's a huge bump in production.

Then throw Rice in there. He has chemistry with Wilson. He's a larger target that still gets deep. All we really need out of him is half the reps we normally get, and the production he had before he got hurt in 2013, and he looked a step slower and kinda beat up even then. We don't need him to be a world killer. We don't need insane production, this splits reps with guys and keeps the pitch count low on guys like himself and Harvin.

As for the draft, this gives us options. Now we can go BPA in the first two rounds and grab a WR in the 4th that meets Pete and John's physical SPARQ requirements, but might take time to develop, like a Tate or Lockette. You let everyone else fight it out and improve the back end of the rotation.

Still young, definitely talented too.

Not that anyone 'deserves' anything; but I'd love to see this dude get a good run of health going, just a top notch dude/personality/teammate.

Yes! Good signing. He knows the system and it's a low risk high reward.

Chicago '12 .....

This man is a Seahawk.
I predict Rice is a serious baller on the field this year. Everything out there. Every play. Every day.

I fully support the signing and I fully support any underestimation which can be derived as well. Let see what he can show in the preseason, if he is truly healed it should show.

Glad to see he is coming back. I hope he is healthy enough to participate in OTAs or at least Training camp. Since he was out for half the season, he should be able to have light contact and maybe the time off gave his knees time to respond to the European bone treatments. I think this is a good signing for the club, the player and his team mates.

Would like to see one if not both of the DBs sign an extension and the team is on to the draft. Would not be shocked if Rice doesn't make the 53-man roster. He could start off on the PUP. He may be cleared to practice but we will see what that means come July.

I really am excited for this signing. This really helps our depth. You have to keep in mind though, I still think we draft another WR or maybe two. If we do then Rice could still be cut, doubt it though, but you never know. I hope not. I am a huge homer. I hopee he gains 1000 yards and get the game winning TD catch in the.....

Hell yeah, hope Rice stays healthy and gives us that big red zone/3rd down threat we have been wanting.

Sidney Rice is the Franklin Gutierrez of the Seahawks. Everyones excited to see him here and what he would be like if healthy but he never makes it through a year. This really doesn't excite me much.

So were just pretending like 2012 didn't happen. Got it.

He's also missed 15 games in 3 years due to injury, and those knees aren't in the best of shape. I love Sid, but banking on him to be completely healthy and his old self is a risky proposition.

Percy Harvin has missed 22 in 2 years. We're all confident he's over that injury woe, why is it not plausible that Sidney will now be healthy too? He should never have started last season, but Harvin's injury forced our hand and we forced him in at the start of the season. It seems like he's far further along this year than he was at this point last year

Total team guy, and a hell of a player when he's on the field. Glad he's back, he belongs w/the Hawks. And shoot, he's all of 27 years old.

Pretty hilarious that someone is worried about Kearse :?

This. I am not posting to start an argument, but a lot of Hawks fans unfairly looked at his contract and then his numbers and hated on the dude. He put his body on the line and future too. I was in the Chicago airport when he caught that pass and initially lost it cuz we won then I thought 'oh shit, he just got killed.' He will always be one of my favorite Seahawks for that play.

If I understand the terms of the deal correctly, our F.O. isn't counting on him to be completely healthy. This is essentially a 1yr minimum "prove it" deal, and if Rice doesn't pan out, the 'hawks lose very little. OTOH, if he does have some of his 2012 form left and can stay out of the training room, it's a steal of a deal.

Large upside with almost no downside. I like it.

It becomes a bad deal IMO if they feel content with their WR corps and pass on drafting a WR early though. This is the best class for WR's in a long time.. not drafting one in the first 64 picks would be a mistake.

I agree, but this has nothing to do with Sidney. Unless you think Seattle planned on taking a WR in the top 2 rounds, but now won't because of Sidney. I'll give Pete and John more credit than that.

To be honest, based on need they should go OL, DE with their first two picks, but I also have more faith in Pete and John than this. With such a deep draft at WR, not taking one in the top 64 would be strange. I agree with you, but Sidney is another story.

And Minnesota banking on Adrian Peterson to be completely healthy and his old self was a risky proposition in 2012.

That was Peterson's first major injury, he doesn't have anywhere near the injury history that Sidney Rice has.

Again, I hope he's healthy.. my main concern is if this changes what we planned on doing in the draft.

This FO has taken a WR in every draft except the 2012 draft, and never later than the 4th round. This draft is said to be deep in WR.

What do you expect them to do? Especially since Rice's deal is a one-year deal? Just sit on their hands and ignore the position?

I like it, I have always been a Rice fan...when he's on the field he can be a beast!

He better watch his back in camp though, especially if Seattle drafts a few new guys.
