Just something I thought I would bring up, to me it seems like he was more of a threat at DE but looking at his stats he had 17 tackles last year 10 solo and 8 sacks, and he played all 16 games. This year he has 19 tackles, 16 solo, 2 sacks AND an interception in only 4 games so maybe I'm answering my own question here but wanted to see what you guys thought.

I like what I am seeing from him at LB so far. That INT the other night was proof positive that letting this guy off the leash is a good thing.

Bruce's game definitely revolves around his speed. Dude made some very heady plays on Monday and was a very bright spot, though his game was not flawless. All said, giving up a few long runs is a fair trade for his INT, along with several other hustle plays.

He is looking great at LB..... I am sure that Pete will use him at both positions confusing Offensive Coordinators and Players everywhere!!!

He's looking like a beast at LB. The added bonus is that they line him up at DE in certain situations, and he's been effective there as well. Get your best players on the field and keep them there. This may end up being one of Pete's most brilliant moves.

A cool tidbit from his presser this afternoon was that a bunch of scouts told Pete that Irvin would never be able to play LB, and he just refused to believe it.

Just one helluvan athlete.

It's up to the coaching staff to find ways for him to be successful.

5-10 sacks a year from a 4-3 OLB spot is elite production. He's looked good in run support and is tough to block out of a play. I'm sure he's got issues to work on, but every time I notice him it's for something positive.

I'm a huge fan of him staying at LB. Whatever shortcomings he may have had in run defense the other night, he more than made up for in other areas, and he will only get better.

Yes please, no other LB currently active makes that interception and run back. Insane, I have never seen such a huge man run that fast with moves and soft hands. It's like like watching a bigger and faster Browner or something more ridiculous.

If he can learn to contain on the outside he will be fantastic. Too many times he bit inside and Rams made us pay.

Yes

“I didn’t mention much after the game about what Bruce Irvin did in this game,” Carroll said. “Bruce had a fantastic football game for us. He was all over the place. He had eight (solo) tackles, and he had a sack, and a forced fumble, and a pick. Just looked really comfortable playing the position and all the different things we’re doing with him. There was a thought that this was an experiment at one time. It’s totally working out and we’re really excited about what he’s doing.

why limit him to one spot he's a versatile player and should be used in multiple ways dumb question.

Bruce is really improving his game, he ain't there yet.
He's going to the ball better, covers okay, still bites on some stuff, and gets out of position.
Middle of next season, he could morph into the Hawks own Von Miller!
With out all the baggage hopefully.

Wayyy to early to consider giving up on the project considering some already fruitful returns, but there is a potentially huge liability against the run if he doesn't start to take on blocks and play to his responsibility. When you are responsible for settomg the edge, you can't continually get washed inside. I think he'll figure it out, but while he does, hopefully he keeps making enough great plays to outweigh the negative ones.
