10 years ago, 3 mill was a sizable chunk of the cap. Now? Is he even on the 51 list? ;)
It would be a sizeable chunk to burn if he doesn't make, (and contribute towards), the team. 1 comparison would be having Lockett back as WR4 at $4M + incentives. Tyrel Dodson ended up costing about $3M last season. Drew lock will cost $2.75M for 2025. It's just a choice. Some choices turn out better than others.

99% of DBs in the NFL don't turn their heads. Try watching other teams' players once in a while.
I'm not sure what games you watch but I disagree totally with that
99% take..

Wow, the sarcasm is strong around this thread.

Griifin is a vet. backup who has actually has shown some limited ability (alternate to the Pro Bowl). I doubt he's the starter but time alone will tell. I believe he's a better player than Rasul Douglas who was the other team visitor at CB. Experienced depth at CB is improved by his addition.

Toward the end of Griffin’s previous tenure here, I wasn’t very impressed with him. He gave up on plays a few times, off the top of my head I remember a play versus Washington where he got lazy and gave up a TD.

However I’m hoping that he can bring some vet experience to the team and like I mentioned earlier, it’s good to have valuable depth at corner where the team was a bit thin.

I’d be shocked if he makes much of an impact and hopefully he doesn’t get much playing time, but just in case, I trust him more than Pritchett at this time.

I was having an internal debate about signing Griffin or Tre Flowers: then we signed Griffin

The amount of DBs that can actually get their head around in man coverage is extremely small, and they are in the upper echelon of talent. So if you are saying anyone that isn't on the top tier of talent sucks, sure, ok if that's how you want to define it. By that standard the overwhelming majority of guys in the NFL suck.

Who wins the outside corner job Josh Jobe or Shaq griffin. I think spoon plays a totally different position than these two. Maybe we got a rookie who takes the other outside spot. I’m assuming riq is the #1 outside corner but I would put him beneath spoon on the depth chart

Looking forward to seeing how Defensive Passing Game Coordinator & Defensive Backs Coach Karl Scott puts it all together this year.

The Seahawks bottomed out last year.

This 2025 team is returning to the best of times !!!!

I agree majority of DBs in the NFL are ass, maybe it's all the passing
and exotic coverage packages that they cannot handle doing so they
wing it or something but I cannot accept piss poor coverage CBs.

Yeah, he may not be an all pro but for 3 mill it seems like a great depth signing. Not sure why such a negative reaction to this. We needed some good depth at CB.
It seems to me that most fans are at least 5-10 years behind on cap issues. They complain about contracts without having any real knowledge or insight on to how it really affects the team cap situation.

I'll just leave this here :

I'll just add that the above stats were against 572 snaps or about 50% of the available 2024 defensive snaps.

He only missed one tackle for the year. That's significant in a year where blocking and tackling are going to be a deciding factor in who makes the initial team roster.

A third point is that Karl Scott's pass defense is a lot different than what Griffin last played in for the Seahawks.
