Odafe Oweh gets $100 million contract from Commanders

Odafe Oweh was one of the top available free agent pass-rushers, but he's no longer available after scoring a monster contract from the Commanders. Oweh has agreed to terms on a four-year, $100 million deal that includes $68 million in guaranteed money.

With the Commanders set to possibly lose two of their top sack leaders from 2025 -- Von Miller and Bobby Wagner -- this was a team that needed some pass-rushing help and Oweh should definitely help. Not only did Oweh rack up 7.5 sacks in just 12 games with the Chargers last season, but he also had three sacks in the team's playoff loss to the Patriots, so he totaled 10.5 sacks in just 13 games.

If Oweh can do that kind of damage for the Commanders, then this signing could be a home run for Washington.

Surprised there hasn't been any news on Woolen yet.
The fact that Seattle preferred $8M/year Josh Jobe as their CB2 over Woolen, and that Woolen is trying to get $20M in a year when CB is the deepest position in the draft makes me think we won't be hearing much on him until after the draft.

LA breaking the bank for McDuffie and Watson is going to come back and bite them IMHO. Although I see that the Titans just paid $20M/per to the Saints CB2, so anything is possible -- if you're desperate enough...

I had hoped we would trade for Bitonio at the trade deadline. He is getting older, but he will be a big improvement.

FA just started. I'm not worried. We have a pretty good bench and there are RBs in the draft.

So are we going to pick up any RB?

Who is left ?
It'll be someone cheap. Mitchell from Baltimore and Brian Robinson from the 49ers have been seen as fits.

I can see a RB this week and drafting one and an edge rusher, probably some cheap veteran like Van Noy or Von Miller who is 37 but coming off a 9 sack season and they might draft one.

Other than that let the market come to you, especially in the secondary.

Guaranteed his agent is pushing for $20M+….and teams know he’s absolutely not worth it.

If he stays, I pray it’s not above $10M per..

Saints are trying to trade kamara. Wonder what his contract is like and if he is a fit. He's old though

Patriots land WR Romeo Doubs with massive $68 million deal

The reigning AFC champions have been looking to add a receiver this offseason and they finally made that happen today with the addition of Romeo Doubs. The former Packers receiver has agreed to terms on a four-year, $68 million deal.

After cutting Stefon Diggs, it was pretty clear that the Patriots were going to need a new No. 1 receiver. There had been some speculation that the Patriots might look to make a trade for A.J. Brown, but the Eagles' asking price was too high and a deal never got done. Instead, the Patriots decided to bring in Doubs as a new weapon for Drake Maye. The Patriots could still try to make a deal for Brown, but they won't be as desperate to get something done now that they have Doubs in place.

Former Super Bowl champion suddenly available in free agency

The Panthers have released A'Shawn Hand, a defensive tackle who will likely now draw a lot of interest in free agency.

Hand signed with the Panthers in 2024 and racked up 5.5 sacks that season, which tied for the team lead. In 2025, he started 16 games for an improving Panthers' defense. The decision to release him was likely cap-related: The Panthers will be freeing up $10.5 million in salary cap space with this move.

Hand, who turns 31 on March 21, has played for four teams in his 10-year career. He started 14 games for a 2021 Rams team that ended up winning Super Bowl LVI. He proved in 2025 that he can still play, so he'll likely be a hot commodity since he plays a position where teams are always looking to add a quality player.

Texans beef up offensive line by adding former Colts tackle

Every offseason, it seems like the Texans are trying to fix their offensive line. They've already made several moves this year and they made another one today with the addition of Braden Smith.

The former Colts offensive tackle has agreed to terms on a two-year, $25 million deal that includes $13.5 million in guaranteed money.

Smith spent the first eight years of his career with the Colts and for most of that time, he played right tackle. The Texans have Trent Brown at right tackle and Brown just signed a one-year deal, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out. Smith did play some guard in college, so the Texans could move him over there have him play next to left tackle Aireontae Ersery. No matter what happens, having too many linemen is a good problem to have and it's not something the Texans have had over the past two years.
