Agree, but they needed to find a roster spot and he wasn't going to be on the team as S, so WOLB it was. Now it looks as if he may be moved to being a situational pass rusher @ SOLB while having his speed for use on ST.

Not much if any news from camp on him so we will need to see how he is used on Thursday.

Did you read the camp updates I posted a few posts up?

He was not good at specials, at all. What are you talking about?

Don't get me wrong, I love the kid. I would've been fine if he was drafted in round 3. But let's not just make shit up.

5th leading tackler on special teams and leading tackler amongst rookies on special teams.

He was fine on special teams.

He was abysmal. Took shit angles...alot.

And yet they kept him on ST and kept scratching Jones. I think the coaching staff had a different assessment than you. But what do coaches know?

I mean really, if he was abysmal on teams, abysmal on defense, then why was he even on the team. Pete likes to give guys chances but if its clear they can't play, he has no qualms letting them go.

Being thin at LB is why he was on specials, not to mention the dead cap they were carrying. They didn't have a choice.

I'm rooting for him. But unless he shows he can rush the passer it's gonna be tough for him to make the squad.

He will have a few tackles tonight and all the "fan boys" will be swinging from his sack again. Truth is, he is a feel good story, but the story can only carry you so far.

I get the feeling hes gonna need someone else to give him a helping hand if hes going to make the team.

LB's are always heavily represented on ST. They have the ideal combination of size and speed and are generally pretty good at tackling in space.

And he opens the game with a stellar ST tackle.

I'm an idiot.

Definitely played Teams like he had his hair on fire last night. Can't say he's not trying like hell to make the squad.

But bottom line is that Calitro, BBK and Barton are superior linebackers. That's going to make it an uphill battle as I can't see him as a force in pass rush. He just used his speed in college and really has no hand moves to escape the clutches of OL at this level. Martin, Marsh and Mingo bring more to the pass rush table, IMO.

Good special teams guy, inspirational story but I suspect he'll be cut as we are deep at LB this year.

He later whiffed on a ST tackle. And looked pretty lost at at LB in the 2nd half. I was frustrated he wasn't getting rushing snaps.

Had seen the comments previously yet hadn't heard how he was doing with his pass rush skills.

Thought he played well on ST last night and if he hadn't whiffed on the second tackle he'd have totally blown up the returner.

He was quite disappointed he'd missed the second tackle b/c it would have then been two huge ST tackles for him. His speed is demonstrably his best weapon and he is fast as heck. He's a ST weapon that Pete will want to keep.

Good grief, are we that "sensitive" here? The helping hand would likely be someone else getting injured/suspended, etc. Maybe even Mychal Kendricks sentencing opens up a window for Quem. Now, someone could open up a no-holds barred Quem thread in the Shack I suppose, to avoid potentially offending any highly sensitive types here. Hell, for all I know, there probably already is one. Link?
