Second week in a row he was our best corner on the field and still no love. Hope he can grow into a solid starting corner in this league.

He's already a solid starting corner, he's just not Richard Sherman

I'm sorry but this is a silly. For starters none of our corners have played particularly well this pre-season. I know people talk about the DL but considering Woods, Ansah and Collier are returning soon I think cornerback is clearly the weakest position on the team.

As for Griffin, let's not forget Rivers and Allen lit him up at the Clink last year. He was facing Tyrod and backup receivers tonight. His pass break up was good but if you watch the replay it was a really poorly placed ball.

He's always had good speed, tackles okay -- what I want to see is him improve on the things he's struggled with (finding the ball in the air and double moves).

My biggest gripe with Shaq is getting his head turned around when the ball is coming. I was taught that 30+ years ago in highschool and I didn’t have 1/1000th’s of athleticism these players have. You can’t defend well if you never see the ball.

Some are natural at it (see Sherm) others have to learn it. I hope he learns it to the point where it’s automatic.
If he does and makes it a habitual thing. If he can get his head turned quicker it will lead to more passes defensed and more picks. I think he has the potential to be an all-pro if he can master that one thing. If not he’ll be a below average to average corner.

I played CB also and you learn to read and back peddle and make your turns and then read the receiver, they have tells and getting your hand up and head around to defend and or find the ball for a pick was key to knowing what's going on, if you don't know where the ball is or if the receiver is the guy you can get left in no mans land. Also if the play is going away from you it enables you to cut the angle off on where the play is going early enough to make a play there on the back side if necessary.

According to PFF last year he was one of the worst CB in the league.

PFF sucks.

Individual analytics sucks for football. Too subjective, no matter how you slice it.

Shaq is a decent coverage CB, but he continues to have trouble fending off downfield blocking, and stopping the run. He's serviceable, but I'm not seeing the type of growth I'd been hoping for from his rookie season.

Well blowing off statistical analysis for the mere matter "it sucks" doesn't suddenly make him the best corner in the league either. He sure didn't pass the eye test last season either. I would not have guessed him as the worst, but certainly button half of the league.

Yeah, because I was certainly saying he is the beat corner in the league. Thanks for noticing that. I thought it might fly over everyone's head.

That wasn't my point. My point is it says nothing.

How was that not your point? Did you just bang out words without any thought between brain and keyboard?

Okay then, i will be clear.

As a Seahawks fan I've seen a lot of bad starting corners, a lot of average starting corners, and a few excellent starting corners.

Watching a ton of games around the league, I see all three.

Based on last year, I would put Shaquill firmly innthe middle group. Considering injury and position change, hes got a chance to get better, but I dont believe based on what I've seen that he will ever be excellent.

Shaquill is a bang average NFL corner. Hes got some strengths and some weaknesses, but putting it all together, hes average.

Oh, an being average makes him good value for a 3rd round pick. Getting 4 years of starter quality play from a third round pick is genius.

Just dont give him a 2nd contract.

Now there is a good and fair post on where he may actually stand compared to others. 8)

Maybe, but unlikely since many NFL teams use it also. But that comment is weak when left standing on it's own anyway.

As of 2019, PFF provides customized data to all 32 NFL teams, 62 NCAA FBS teams, 4 CFL teams, national/regional media

If anyone needed further proof that these are typed out without any active mental processes, one only need look at the word waist here.
