I think this is the first real example of what our defense is going to start looking like moving forward. I remember months back a Ravens fan told us to chill, that it will take time for Mike’s defense to gell. Months. But he was steadfast in his belief that it would come.
There’s been a lot of up and downs, mainly downs with our defense. But lately? They are showing actual, quantifiable growth recently.
The kind that doesn’t look like a fluke but the kind that looks like the players are starting to get it.
There was a sense of urgency. You could see it. Too many defensive players to call out. What a thrill to watch. We made Kyler obsolete. The towel returned on the sidelines. He may have talent and speed but to me he showed he’s still that poor leader, a man child who sulks on the sideline instead of picking up his players.
Geno? Solid. But yes, he frustratingly has to throw that one dumb pick every game it seems. But I can deal with that if we win.
I want you all to enjoy Lockett. We are watching his final games as a Seahawk. Salute the man for what he’s brought to us for a decade. But it’s clear his time is near. Love ya Tyler.
The final score should have been 23-6. That touchdown off of Kyler’s fumble should have stood. It was clearly a fumble as the arm did not reach the vertical point that is required to be considered a forward pass. But what do I know? I’m just a middle-aged dude sitting on the couch. Sipping wine. (And yet still right).
I think we are building something real here folks. The players clearly look bought in. I can’t speak for every coach on the team but I think Mike is going to be a great coach for us. I really do.
Whether we finish 6-11 or 12-5, I have hope for a solid future. Yes, changes are imminent. Players and coaches will be let go in the offseason. I just have a strong feeling Mike will carry us into championship-caliber status over the next few years.
Time for another cigar. Thanks to the Eagles, Packers and most obviously our beloved boys in blue and green.
Cheers Brothers!
