From the stand point of being the wrong QB on the wrong team, Alex Smith and Drew Lock had something in common. Alex Smith was billed as a total failure and bust, so is Lock. Toffee the homer is wish Lock could pull an Alex Smith! Turn his career around and goes to probowl just like Alex Smith.

I agree with Twisted that it will be interesting to see how this thread ages. The question may turn out to be not what Lock's threshold could be, but how the rest of the team fares in trying to be better than their counterparts on the opposition. IOW Lock may only have to be serviceable (a good manager) in order for us to compete successfully as a team. That would result in Lock having improved his game in the ways we need him to, without having to become some hero level QB.

Kirk Cousins could be another interesting comp for Lock. Not great success early on before finally putting it together.

I want to believe in the good stuff Waldron showed, I really do, but my mind keeps telling me there's quite the package of clips you could probably put together of weaknesses in his game too

There's likely a good reason that Waldren isn't dwelling on Locks' "weaknesses", I mean, what would be the point, as virtually ALL Quarterbacks have some sort of "weakness" that could be put on display.
I believe Waldren would rather focus on whether or not Lock has the mindset & abilities to implement his Offensive schemes.
Waldren really likes using TE's a lot, so bringing along a familiar Fant to help in the transition was huge.
I also believe that Lock & maybe even Smith are better fits for the system that Waldren likes to run, AND he will now have a Run heavy facet to add to the menu.
I'm not a Quarterback guru, & fact is, I'll wager that there's a lot more experienced Quarterback evaluators @ the VMAC than there are around here.
