Geno actually looked competent when he stepped in for Russ. He then went on to beat out Drew Lock in training camp. When he came in for Geno, despite spending close to a year in the system, he looked incompetent and overwhelmed by even simple plays.

Once again, he's trash until he proves otherwise. What makes him any different than Drew Lock, Charlie Whitehurst, or Tarvaris Jackson? That very same logic can be applied there. Except, in this case there is much more supporting evidence to back up the JAG scenario.
Howell had a first year OC without any NFL experience that called 12 pass plays out of the 19 total plays Howell was actually playing.

The OC didn’t make him hold onto the ball, throw potential INTs, miss wide open receivers and look like a spaz.

You can’t blame everything on the OC. An OC can absolutely make things better or worse but that doesn’t describe certain things.

He’s exactly the same guy that played at NC. He hasn’t progressed as a player. He doesn’t go through progressions, he’s a spaz in the pocket, he doesn’t see the whole field and tunnel visions.

Once again, copium. There is a reason that we’re courting Darnold rather than going with Howell.

As I said, I wouldn’t be surprised if he isn’t even on the roster come regular season. Reports of Howell in practice weren’t exactly glowing either, many calling him “alarmingly inaccurate” exactly what we saw against the packers.

All evidence is pointing to him being a JAG. He hasn’t excelled in practice or regular season.

Just because Geno Smith turned it around doesn’t mean just anyone can.

Howell is not our answer, he’s never been our answer.

If each head was looking at a different receiver, how could defenses key on who's getting the ball ? I say cut off his head and when two grow back, cut them off too ! Then he would have 4 heads. Even better !

Btw, if somebody saved babies from poverty, I'd imagine other people might just throw them a party. Why stop at poverty ? What if he saved babies from roving packs of dogs, flying turds, or being sniffed by a Biden ? All good reasons to fire up a party.
B- for effort and D- for execution

That depends.
Are you talking about the Darnold on the Vikes?
Or the Darnold we would get? (Think his time with the Jets)

But no, Howell is likely terrible. Which is why I thought he might get us a chance to get a top 10, if not top 5, draft pick....
Howell isn’t terrible but he doesn’t have the arm talent that Darnold possesses. In fact Darnold threw 26 touchdowns in the red zone and only 3 interceptions last year. Conversely Geno stinky booty Smith threw only 13 touchdowns last year in the red zone and threw many more interceptions so not only is Darnold better than Howell, he’s also far superior to Geno.

Darnold has all the physical tools. He needs more playing time and coaching to determine if he can be a top QB at this level. I doubt he's willing to step down into the CFL or UFL to get that experience. He might succeed without it but I think it would lower his probability. He looked like a real prospect in Washington. I wish him well.

Indeed. Mix and matching names doesn't show as a mistake on the spellchecker :D. I wish Howell well. Darnold...whatever. Darnold had a good year, but i've never been convinced of his having top 12 NFL QB potential.

Howell will NEVER be a good quarterback in the NFL. We just came from several years of Geno who also will never lead a team to the Super Bowl. Why would you want to just continue with the same? Outside of Wilson,Aaron Rodgers is the only quarterback available that has consistently won. I’d rather have him for two years and bring in Davante Adams to pair with JSN and possibly DK, who may stay for a quarterback of that caliber. I would say that’s a pretty potent passing game.

Are we really thinking a guy like Howell would be a would be a better then Aaron Rodgers? Really?

I think with an entire offseason and preseason under a new OC and overall, run-first philosophy, Sam Howell will be better than what we saw in limited action last season. Does that mean he has what it takes to be our starter? No idea. But, I think he's a lot better than what we saw against Green Bay.

If they draft a qb, it will be interesting to see who emerges as the starter. If they go with a cheaper vet, hopefully whomever they draft has enough juice to supplant him. As for Howell, that's the big unknown in this equation. Will he be the starter? Will they cut him? Time will tell.

Wow, we’ve seen Howell in one game for a few plays and to some he’s a POS QB.

That wasn’t the case when he played for the Commanders, he was young raw QB that had potential he showed on the field in a no win situation that was the Commnders O.

I plan on giving him a chance and watching closely, before I write him off.

He has to be better than that. It was statistically one of the 10 worst quarterback performances (15+ attempts) since 2000.

And there have been over 13000 of them.
