Is there a link to the full video of this? I'm only seeing clips on the official site.

Not sure I did that correctly, if not my apologies. Also, I'm not sure if this is the entire speech.

http://www.nfl.com/videos

The above link is to the 'Funniest Moments' but the full speech is the next video listed. " Obama congratulations Seahawks on Super Bowl win"

I'll have to watch it again to catch Pete's nod to BB.

Umm, as far as Marshawn not being there (and I DID see the tweet about the passing of a friend), if he feels awkward/uncomfortable talking in front of the media, imagine how much more magnetized that'd be standing in front of the whole world. I know he did during the Super Bowl, but that's a quite bit different setting and circumstance.

It does bug me a little bit that Lynch wasn't there. It's amazing how someone so motivated to gain every extra tenth of an inch on the field, an absolute beast who sacrifices his body on every cary, could be so indifferent about everything else off the field football related. Now if it turns out he had something personal that was important going on then I stand corrected. There are just some things that bond you as a team and I would think this is one of them.

Screw the whitehouse if it and / or it's current resident, doesn't represent something you believe in. No matter the reason for Lynch's absence, I applaud his decision to not go. I wouldn't go either and that is not a *shot at Obama.

I think it was like 1988, after Bird and the Celts won the championship, Reagan made a big deal out of Larry visiting the WH. Bird passed oon the invite and his reason was he "had more important issues to address". It was later reported he returned to French Lick, Ind and mowed his mom's yard. ; )

* Secret service, please carefully read the context in which this was written before kicking in my door and hauling me away to some foreign country that accepts pay for torture. I thank you in advance.

I think he didn't really want to go in the first place (his current discomfort with press conferences), so when a funeral came up, he jumped at the chance to not go.

Remember those media day activities were compulsory but this event was not (I think anyway).

It'd be my guess he will come to regret passing up on the opportunity. How often does a person get invited to the White House? Not going for any reason (reluctance or as some sort of protest) is only punishing yourself. Things like this should transcend politics and the forever changing tides of who's occupying White House.

Just my opinion of course.

Are you kidding with this? Implying that Lynch used the death of a friend as an excuse?

Geez. I was going to add a line about exactly that point, but was just making a quick point before heading out the door.

I really meant that he wasn't heartbroken when he couldn't attend, because he was struggling with feeling he should go, but not wanting to.

I was implying nothing of the sort.

I cried like a baby all the way through. Realizing that my team, the Frickin Seahawks, were up there with the most powerful man in the free world just brought it all home.

I am so proud of this team. My team. Our team.

All politics aside, if you get the chance to be a guest at the Whitehouse via an invitation by the residing President of the United States of America you make every attempt to make it. Doesn't matter if you like the guy or not or believe in hios policies. He is the most powerful person in the world and is the face of OUR nation. I hope Lynch had a great reason for not showing up.

The only gripe I have is that the President didn't mention BB in the LOB. He is one of the founding fathers of the LOB. I felt that the President missed an opportunity to say that you can do anything in this world if you set your mind to it and have a bit of luck.

It was pretty cool. This wasn't about any politician this was about the Seattle Seahawks being champions and being recognized for their kick ass season. Politicians will come and go, but the Seattle Seahawks will ALWAYS be XLVIII champs, something no one can take away! :th2thumbs: :D
Live it up 12's, days like this and the Super Bowl parade are our just desserts for years of fandom thru the thick and thin! :0190l:

Lynch missed the trip because of a death of a family friend.

I mean I'd 100% go if I were in the player's shoes regardless of what I thought of the President. I imagine it'd be a little cooler if I liked the President, but whatever.

Still, if a player just chose to quietly miss due to a dislike of the President (I don't think that's what happened here), I don't have a huge issue with it. I would only have a big issue with it if a player did that and then tried to use it as a soapbox to make a big statement and cast a shadow over his teammates' experience.

There's NO WAY that Lynch stayed away because of politics.

.

I don't agree with this at all. I would feel cheap and not true to my values, prostituting myself, if I went and got chummy with someone I actually despised. The fact that person is the "most powerful man in the world" would only make it worse. To make clear, I do not hate this president. But some do. I am just offering an example.

I am reminded of an accident I had not that long ago. An atheist my entire life, I was told I should "start praying to God" by a staff person at the hospital. I simply replied: I never prayed before, I would be a hypocrite if I started praying now and I would rather die than be unable to look myself in the mirror.

You can't have it both ways. You can't not believe in God, or your president, then change your beliefs only when beneficial to yourself. IMO.

Lynch wasn't the only one who wasn't there.

Dave Pearson, Seattle's vice president of communications and broadcasting, said Lynch was among a few players who did not attend. He said some had commitments but was uncertain in Lynch's case.

"No specific reason (for Lynch) that I'm aware of," said Pearson. "It kind of came together, and he wasn't in Seattle at the time."

Not that it's really any of our business anyway, but...

http://blogs.seattletimes.com/seahawks/ ... ant-to-go/

The Seahawks’ visit to the White House today left one lingering question — where was Marshawn Lynch?

Turns out, there was no big mystery to his absence, according to his mother, Delisa Lynch.

“He just said he didn’t want to go,” she told the Seattle Times tonight.
