Those are good odds. Take them if you can get them. I cashed in my Super Bowl ticket at Planet Hollywood last month in Vegas and could only find 4-1 for the 2014 season.

(If I had the money I would bet a little though).

These are post-draft odds, FYI.

I'm a little surprised by Denver's odds, considering the mauling they took in 48.

Green Bay surprises me. Are they seriously the fifth best team in the league? I get the Rodgers love but that defense is so bad. They aren't winning anything until that defense is entirely rebuilt.

At the risk of sounding like a traitor, the odds on the Cardinals looks very tempting. Outside of QB, they're probably the most loaded team in the NFL. Easily a Top-3 defense, if not better. The loss of Dansby was a setback, but they're still scary good. Wilson is still having nightmares about those DEs (best tandem in the game by a large margin), and a secondary that is just as good as the LOB while not being as well known.

The Browns are definitely on the way up, but still a year or two out. But they're probably the best defense in the AFC, and they are getting loaded on offense. They've shown a lot of progress since dumping Holmgren, as much as I hate to admit it. Trading Richardson was a brilliant move, and turning that trade into Johnny Manziel was a huge win no matter how he plays. I'm excited for Browns fans, who deserve to see a winning team for once.

The Rams are strong, but that QB and coach is going to continue to lock them into mediocrity. I'm shocked that they didn't use all those first rounders to upgrade at QB, considering how loaded they are everywhere else. Even if you didn't like this year's QBs (at least one of whom will be better than Bradford), they should have traded all those picks to move up next year and get a QB. And Fisher continues to produce mediocre teams, regardless of talent.

I was thinking the same thing about the Cards....40/1 for a team that barely missed the playoffs, that's a great value bet.
I fully expect the cards to bypass the forty whiners for the 2nd spot in the NFCW this year.

Fo sho.

The Niners don't scare me. The Cards do. They dominated Seattle at home. That defense was just unreal. If you weren't at the game, it's hard to describe the energy, but they brought it for sure. Bunch of young hungry thugs out there playing physical football, just like our Hawks. Dudes were on the sidelines bouncing around, wanting to get back on the field, smacking each other on the helmet after every play, throwing our WRs to the ground and smacking Beast Mode hard enough that he wasn't his usual self. It was scary watching them stomp all over our offense.

The only real weakness of the Cards is at QB. That will keep them out of the Superbowl, but I can see them knocking Santa Clara out of the playoffs.

I agree with the Cards being better than 40 to 1 but they aren't better than the Niners. The best DE duo is in this division but it's not the Cards, it's the rams. You're overrating their secondary (they got two good corners but their safeties aren't even in the same atmosphere as Thomas/Chancellor). You're understating how insane Dansby was and what he did for that defense, he was their star.

The cards were pumped out of their mind when they beat us. They remembered the last time they were in the Clink.

The Cardinals annoy me more than any other team. They are the classic overachieving team. They do this every year. They just can't get the consistency down and get over that jump and I don't see that changing. Honestly I except the Cards to finish fourth in the division. The Rams have a better defense and better offense.

You must remember, odds are set at a point where the books expect the general public to spread the bets evenly. They are not set on any expectation of actually finish. Seattle is going to get a good deal of play from the public simply based upon the SB win. Green Bay is always a fan favorite with Rodgers. Look at the Panthers at 28-1. The books know that the public will go off last year's success while Carolina is primed to go down the tank in actuality.

To further add about the Cardinals secondary..

They were 14th in yards allowed
21st in passing TD
3rd most pass attempts

Basically their pass defense was very average while being targeted significantly more than their front seven.

Were you AT the home game against them last season? If you were, there is no way you'd be saying that about their safeties. Impressive play all around. Matheiu was on fire. Reminds me of Earl Thomas. Super fast, can close on anything, and was shadowing receivers as well as he was tackling. And he's not afraid to sneak up and hit the RB or blitz the QB.

And now they've got Deonne Bucannon back there for the 1-2 punch. If there is any safety in the NFL that reminds me of Kam Chancellor, it's this kid.

Frankly, if you're going to compare any secondary in the NFL to the Legion of Boom, it's going to be the Cardinals. Saying they're in two different "atmospheres" just makes your analysis seem casual at best. Especially after the draft.

Last in the division? Worse than the Rams? Okay......

Totally agree. The Cards D is the real deal. I fully expect them to make the playoffs and probably knock the Whiners out of the #2 spot of the division.
