I feel even more confident a speed demon WR needs to be on this team next year.

Holy shit some of you are just …. Miserable, I have never seen this place at just a constantly all time low of just constant negativity, that’s shit is so f’n exhausting. Even after a 10-7 season most of y’all still wanna whine about every little thing. No wonder so many GOOD posters have left or resorted to just creeping. z

I’m happy with the hire, I’m not the GM, I’m not some Vegas stat nerd, I’m a simple man who watches football on tv.

Also.. I’m not necessarily surprised to see the negative Nancie’s here are also the same ones with love boners for PC, PC going back to coaching but for the Raiders (I’m sure your all tugging yourselves to have a moment of “TOLD YOU SO!” For some stupid reason.) and definitely tug yourselves to McVay.

At least I’ll give credit to @John63 dude left when his favorite player left and followed him.
Were you happy with the Grubb hire?

If JS fixes the offensive line and these two guys stay healthy, then Kubiak will be fine. I'm not expecting any marked offensive improvement unless the IOL is upgraded. A good run game can be a playcallers best friend and keep a defense fresh.

Thing is, if Kubiak is at all competent, the o line will be better even if we change none of the pieces.

But assuming we do upgrade at the guard spot (and we will), the question is whether Kubiak can differentiate what he does enough to give us an edge week in and week out.

I'm not a Geno fan, BUT, even if Kubiak gets us two more wins I think that's an upgrade...no?

Two rounds of interviews...
Not really sure that means anything. They had some level of interest but there wasn't much out there and you're not going to interview just 1 guy twice then hire that guy. I think Dan Campbell, before Fraley's interview, said go ahead and go but here is what type of promotion you will get if you stay here. I think it was both parties just kicking the tires but not a ton of interest from either party.

I have enjoyed several of this man's takes on the Seahawks. He's a Lions fan but dedicates some of his time to teams that get less media time. I love what he says about Kubiak's offense when Carr was playing vs when he wasn't. Look for it at the 2 min mark.

You kick the tires in the first interview. You request a second interview because there's legitimate interest and you want to get more into the details of what that candidate could do for your organization.

As for Campbell's role I'm sure he was asked if it was ok for Hank to take the interview. No way Campbell says no. Once the second interview is complete Fraley probably told Campbell the details and they countered with something less than OC but more than just OLine coach and that was enough for him to stay in Detroit.

To say there was no real interest after two interviews, cross country flights, etc. is ridiculous.

I agree with Bumps take here that Kubiak represented a known quantity vs. the other two candidates and the Seahawks are in win now mode:

I'm saying there was some interest but in person and zoom interviews are 2 different things. I'm saying no interest after the in person interview. Besides there wasn't much out there, we brought in most everybody for a 2nd interview

Well, none of us truly know what was offered, if something was offered and/or how much was offered. For any of the candidates.

I for one am excited at the potential of Kubiak. I believe the staff he’ll bring in will be full of past faces he’s familiar with through his connections via his family name. If the offense is full of his staff (with Macdonald and Schneider approval) and the defense is full of Macdonalds preferred choices, then I see no reason why this couldn’t work out.

I think Mac wants to be hands off on offense, other than some ground rules (literally, like running the ball more) other than that I bet he’ll give Kubiak a lot of freedom to do as he needed but without the perceived arrogance that I got from Grubb.

Does anyone have any insight into what this OC hire means for Geno? Do you think Geno will fit within Kubiak's system, or is this a sign that Geno's days are numbered? I haven’t seen much speculation about this elsewhere, so any serious insight would be greatly appreciated.
Just a follow up here with an article from Corbin Smith (apologies in advance for linking to a Sports Illustrated article, since they are garbage, but Smith is still a respectable beat reporter for the Seahawks):
Why Geno Smith Stands to Benefit Most From Seahawks Hiring Klint Kubiak

Also, wanted to add, that I do think there is one Seattle Seahawk that this move isn't great for, which is probably Tyler Lockett. We already saw that Tyler's snap rate on offense was his lowest since back when he used to still do returns. But this was in Grubb's system.

Kubiak's system is heavy on 12 and 21 personnel sets. During the first two weeks of the season, when the Saints were running the personnel they were hoping for, their WR3 was only on the field for about 1/3 of the snaps... an amount closer to the number of snaps that Jake Bobo took this year.

I honestly hope that if Tyler isn't content with retiring into the sunset, that a deal of some kind is worked out, but Tyler is (currently) set to have the 4th highest WR cap hit in 2025 as a WR3 on a team that is about to not use WR3s very much.

This hire definitely hurts his agent's leverage in negotiations.

Respect your opinion, just that I haven't felt negativity in THIS thread. Read lots of interesting opinions and took in some external resources people shared.
Maybe it was negative BEFORE the hire, and got better AFTER Kubiak was hired. Recency bias on my part?

I do love that PC got hired by the Raiders. I still have love for PC but I did agree it was time for him to move along from the Hawks. I think PC will be an upgrade for the Raiders organization. I think PC has reflected on his Seattle exit and likely made adjustments. If there's one thing PC has done in his career, it's learn and adapt from setbacks. PC's firing from the NE Patriots and then going on to make two SBs with the Seahawks and win one, I'd say is a pretty good comeback for him. I'll be rooting for PC against most teams, obviously not against the Hawks. Now if he can just overcome his stubborn misplaced loyalty to underperforming DCs he might even win a few.

I am happy with the Kubiak hire and it feels "just right" for what MMac needs to be even more successful next year. I noticed even Pitt has occasional brief episodes of optimism since PC left, which might be overly influencing me to overlook other negativity. Pitt, the optimist, I mean, who would have predicted it?

I do hope that Kubiak with Mac will be > than Kubiak with the other coaches he was matched with. To the degree the HC and other leadership in the room from Monday to Sunday can have a positive effect on the knowledge and performance of an OC, Kubiak could blossom into an outstanding coordinator with the minds he will have wroubd him - to say nothing for the weapons.
