I know this is not the point of your post but regarding Fries, it wasn't so much the contract as it was being able to check out his health. That contract has an out after 2 seasons. So essentially you're looking at the guaranteed money - $34M.
Oh, no - the health component was a huge part of it in my eyes -

Charles Cross is gonna cost the team 30 million next year, so might as well draft a new left tackle now, or figure something else out. It doesn't seem likely, they will dump that much in one offensive lineman.

The cutter line is real.
You don't cut loose Good left tackles, we have been looking for stability there since Walter Jones retired, Cross is just getting started and has another 8 to 10 years average left.

You have to have at least one anchor on offense. I mean you have to pay your homegrown players that you draft and develop at some point or else there is no point in focusing on the draft.

Why does health matter for OL but not for players like Kupp and MVS?
You're just going to have to stop making sense :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I think for me it was the perception that he was wriggling out of the physical for some reason.

Can someone get JS to explain why it wasn't the Seahawks doing this deal?

Thuney was acquired from the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a 2026 fourth-round selection from the Bears

Or Option C

Sign Jenkins to a 1 year deal and trade down to take Zabel in round 1.
I doubt "C" is an option. To sign a FA you generally have to have the best offer or the best situation. JS could offer a 1 yr deal but it's hard to believe Jenkins would take it if there is other interest in his services.
I think we'll have a few quality OL options at 18.
Only one thing is for sure....some people will be upset and complain either way.

I doubt JS has really changed his views on the oline. He said pretty much the same things last off-season as the things he's saying this time around and he signed Laken Tomlinson and drafted a guard in the 3rd round. So when he is addressing it, his idea and some fans idea of addressing it is pretty far apart.

You want the real deal, here it is...

JS is scared he is about to lose his job. He shows up drunk on his own show and pretty much begs people to speak about the positive things.

He can feel the pressure and so he wants to shut up the fans by saying "I get it" please stop putting a light on the problem...and that problem is JS.

As far as the O-line, he is walking out another trash product. His hopes are that MM can win enough games with defense to make the playoffs, so he can do it all again next year.

I don't have any issue with what JS has done this free agency, my only concern is going into season with another bad oline.
So what he hasn't or probably won't be doing for the oline. I think otherwise he's done a good job keeping and replacing players.

Glad you know him intimately and have had these conversations with him so we understand his disposition and feelings. :)

EDIT** 2 yrs / $44M. I wasn't trying to be disingenuous, just looked at the wrong column on the contract details.
Does anyone here really think the Vikings just put up a bunch of money without taking a test drive?
