Sam Darnold is Seahawks' franchise QB and QB of the future. He will be here for at least two years, if we cut him in 2026, which we won't, the cap hit would be $40 mil. Everything is perfect: an OC worked with him, a GM who trusts and loves him, and coming of age for the Schneider line. If that is not enough, after a tremendous breakout season, no GM except Schneider wanted him this off-season, he will play with over 31 chips on his shoulder.

John Schneider invested his reputation and possibly job security in Sam Darnold, 12s must rally behind John's decision! Third time's the charm, 12s, John brought in Lock, that geNO out competed Lock, John brought in Howell, the geNO out competed Howell too, third time now, no more geNO to ruin the plan.

Make no mistake. Sam Darnold is not a one-year rental that we could cut without cap liabilities, he is the franchise QB.

I listened to that yesterday. Very informative. However, it’s still weird that Brian insists that Geno is better.

Ignore these media experts, the card carrying geNOs on .NET knew before geNO started his first game that he ain't nothin' but a career backup. At his best, he may be bottom 1/3 of QBs, don't believe me? Ask Ozzy, he has all kinds of stats that put geNO firmly in the 25th or so among starting QBs.

Go Sam Darnold, now, this is a franchise QB. Don't believe me? Ask John Schneider. The haters, O'Donnell, Shanahan, Brady, Chip, Tomlin, etc etc will eat humble pies and human wave our John Schneider.

Toffee you must be very conflicted this year. It very much seems as if you want JS to fail badly so you can celebrate your victory. Will you be sad if the Seahawks are good next year? I have a feeling you will be. Why not switch over to the Raiders board and root for them? At least for a few years.

I endorse every decision made by our GM John Schneider, frankly, couldn't wait to see a Schneider team that will be cleansed, purified of Pete Carrol players.

I may be the lone diehard supporter of our OL on .NET, designed under the Schneider OL philosophy, executed under the Schneider doctrine. I endorse John's decision to stick to his players, no signing of big name FA for our OL, as it's fine as is.

No you don't and your schtick is really old, disingenuous, and way over done. We get it, you are pissed about Geno, you don't like moving on from the old guard. Geno was never loved enough by JS etc etc. Like I said you can join the Raiders board and get some Raiders gear, nothing wrong with that. You love them as coaches and players and thats your right but why stick around here and whine incessantly?

Couldn't this be considered a bait and switch title? Not saying this dude should be banned, but his takes are because he's sad that Geno got traded lol. To me, and probably quite a few people who agree, these takes are pretty annoying.

Will say though, much more excited about what Darnold could possibly offer versus the status quo of the last 2.5 years. Go Hawks! (And Mariners, please do not lose a game like last night for the rest of the season).

They are completely disingenuous posts at best. The schtick is old. I could not agree more.

When JS went out and got a QB that plays to the level of his offense, then it is JS's responsibility to build a phenomenal offense around Sam.

This year's success has nothing to do with Darnold and everything to do with JS's ability to build a championship offense.

Honestly, the squad isn't there.

With all due respect dude, it's hard to take you seriously with your username. Why not wait and see how the draft rolls for us before you say the offense isn't there lol.

Also, I predict Darnold will have double Geno's red zone touchdowns and completions. I feel like he reads the field a lot better in tighter spaces, but does have the same "ohh my god" reaction that Geno had under pressure. Let's see if Darnold can look at that film from those crappy last two games and see where to find a quick target or throw it away. You never got that with Geno

I imagine the conflict doesn’t limit itself to this one particular issue.

Unfortunately, from what I've learned lately, it's a 'bit' of his.

I really hope (JS dislike aside from him) that he really will root for Darnold to be successful and root for him to fail just because "F.U. John Schneider".

Most people consider Geno the better QB pre snap and post snap processing is faster. Darnold is a better pure passer to a point because he isn't as accurate as Geno. The truth is that Darnold needs a lot to go right for him to completely drop dimes downfield. But like R. Wilson, he doesn't have the feet to extend plays but he is a better passer between the hashmarks compared to R. Wilson.

Honestly, the squad isn't there.

With 10 picks the odds are that more players will be added to the offense so that is to be determined. The defense outside of adding some depth at DL, ILB and DB is set for the most part.

Only 27 players are under contract for 2026. Of those 26 players, a large chunk are defensive players and the cap allocation from Offense to defense is a ratio nearly 1:2.

So what will happen with the future of the offense? Is JS drafting offensive replacements in 2026 for this draft or is he looking to upgrade the offense and not re-sign many of the players up on their rookie contracts?

There are many factors that affect how well a QB performs, Hawkblogger compares the O-lines but the quality of the receiving corps, the threat of the run game and the inginuity of the OC / HC are some of the other factors that make an impact. He also points out that you should not assess a player on individual games but use as much data as possible but limits himself to one season.

Darnold was a poor starting QB for the Jets and Panthers and couldn't get the starting role with the 49ers. I hope with the Seahawks we see the Vikings numbers rather than those from other teams but it is far from guaranteed.

^^^ Agreed, I'm not sold on Darnold yet. But I truly hope he does well!
