His block on Lynch's 27 yard run was really amazing. The block itself wasn't great, but the speed he showed in bolting by Lynch to get in front of him was really impressive. I've seen quarterbacks throw blocks before, but I'm not sure I've ever seen one that far down field.

Hass threw some decent blocks well downfield on occasion. He was right there alongside Lynch during BeastQuake if I'm not mistaken.

Come on Greg that block sucked! he had to pull himself back cause he realized he was about to block in the back. But the effort was terrific.

I mean,,,he ran down our star RB after spotting him 10 yards had to put on the brakes to not run clear out of the tunnel.

It was great

It wasn't so much of a block as a distraction. Still cool to see your QB sprinting up field, don't get me wrong. But using the word "block" would be in it's loosest sense.

He also had an awesome block on one of the Rams last week where he really put the dude on his a$$. The guy is willing to do whatever it takes. So glad he's ours.

It did make me think of Hass during the BeastQuake run when he caught up, reached out to push down a defender but pulled his hands back in time to save a penalty for blocking in the back.

While pancake blocks are great and get the fans and players excited, just brushing somebody to throw them off their path/line of pursuit is also a good block. RWs got just enough on the block to put him out of position and off balance. A good block every time.

Miller's *actual* block on that play was a thing of beauty. Absolutely blew up the OLB.

I thought it was rather humerous that he had sprinted past a 1 Zach Miller to block for him.

I kept thinking, you know why isn't Miller running down with him?

Russell does the small stuff to win games, in fact he goes beyond what it takes to ensure we win.
He is a great example for the rest of the team and should go a long way.

Lynch did a good job of letting up sust enough to get a blocker out in front. Wilson got his man off kilter just enough and got himself out of the way so that beast mode could roll!

Just running some interference (and keeping yourself from getting blown-up) is all that's needed... and that was a perfect example.

That's what I thought. He made the defender back up and also couldn't square up to take on Lynch. A smaller defensive back is in tough to take on Lynch if he is squared up and ready. If he's not, he has no shot.

Yeah, Kearly gave Wilson props for his blocking but he was just getting in the way just enough. Which is fine, I don't want my QB charging into defenders but he wasn't really blocking. Miller on the other hand started the whole TD run by just demolishing the linebacker.

my favorite play from russ was the play where he tried to stiff arm the safety. they replayed it in slo mo. although he only got back to the los. the look on russells face was one of sheer determination. i love this kid

This was the second time RW did something like that. There was one game (AZ? / week before that) where RW sprinted down and basically just graces the guy but it is all that is needed to throw him off and not get injured himself

smart

Think of most times an ordinary QB kind of accidentally finds himself in position to block, then defenders get a chance to put a hit on him. Russell goes full speed and TAKES IT TO 'EM. He didn't need to land a huge hit on anyone for that play. His speed, aggressiveness, and positioning were enough. Russell is a straight-up baller.

What's the difference between getting in the way and blocking? I'm really curious, especially in this instance. By turning the defensive back around, Wilson moved him out of position to dive at Lynch's leg and, instead, set him up to get knocked over when Beast Mode accelerated through the defenders.
