Amazing the trajectory that RW's young career has taken. It is only going to get better IMO. On another note....how did Kaepernick get the "Papaki" moniker?

Maybe it's the way he carries himself off the field...Wearing another team's cap (who does that in the NFL?)

Shaun Alexander.

This was a picture taken at the Pro Bowl. Guys trade stuff there all the time. That's appropriate. Papaki however is not.

Of course, might have thought there was another rule in place to suit people who want to find something to bitch about a player on a different team

What?

Alexander wore that at a Pro Bowl practice, and some Panther was probably wearing his hat.. that's what they do at those things.

Kaeperdouche was rocking a Dolphins hat during a day out on the town. Slight difference.

Alexander was wearing that at the pro bowl while he was on the verge of becoming a free agent after the most succesful season in Seahawks history and his own personal best season, but it was ok. (and for the record, I didn't have any problem with it anyway).

People make the biggest mountain out of the smallest mole hill here just to dismiss a rival teams player all while forgetting about our own little failings and glitches.. Wasn't it a few weeks back that Lynch was wearing a Raiders beanie or some such? Honestly, no-one cares, the media makes it out to be so much bigger than it really is to generate news and people fall for it all the time.

I just don't get the infatuation with Cap as a #1 level guy. Does he have talent? Absolutely. Raw, natural talent with gazelle-speed. If you are paying close attention, you see Russ is heads and shoulders the complete package over him from leadership, preparation, character, intelligence...AND the dude is a baller on top of that.

Oh well...The whole world will soon see for themselves...

Separation is in the Preparation after all.

I agree, Russ is such a redonkulous acquisition, and so early. He's one the smartest QB's in the game. 2nd place is not bad, that will Soon change. Kap wont even be around to see it.

LA not having a team allows the large population to bandwagon according to who's up in the standings among the Chargers, Niners, and Raiders.

In an attempt to get back on subject here if you guys will let me....

I don't think there is anything wrong with buying your teams QB jersey even if he is new to the team. I will be buying a Kaepernick jersey before the regular season kicks off. For those of you that bought a Flynn jersey when they came out, who could blame you? With the amount you guys paid for him, obviously it was assumed he would be the starter.

How soon actually after you guys traded for him from the Packers, did his jersey hit the shelves up there in Washington?

There was no "trade" involved with Flynn...He signed as a free agent. Just ANOTHER uninformed niner fan. Those Flynn jerseys will be just as valuable as Kaep jerseys in a couple years.

Personally I believe Russ is the better QB and we'll see that this year. If you look at the stats (I know, I know) Kaepernick is only a few % points behind Russ in accuracy, and he's ahead of him in YPA. So, he hucks the ball a ways downfield, but is still accurate. Add to it that he has a damn good work ethic, seems to have decent intangibles, and his physical stature, plus he really does impact games to a large extent, and he's the real deal.

It's like Dilfer said one time, Wilson isn't doomed because he's short, but you have to be exceptional in every other part of your game, which Russ is. The flip side of that coin is that when you're built like Kaepernic and Newton, you have more margin for error. You see the field easier when you're 6'5" and don't need to rely on throwing lanes quite as much. Add to that the athleticism, and the fact that Kap doesn't look to run first, but scrambles to throw, then runs (kinda like our guy, but to a lesser extent) and he's a big weapon.

Throw in the fact that he has a better QB guru coaching him up in Harbaugh and it's no wonder SF fans are giddy.

SF has also been a relevant franchise a lot longer than we have, it's no wonder that Kap's jersey sales are higher than Wilson's. It's actually surprising that Wilson is 2nd on that list, and probably a testament to the solidarity of the 12th man and maybe evidence to our fan base growing.

Nice solid post that makes a lot of sense.

It's definitely a good portion of the fan base, because the fans actually have something to be excited about. I also agree with the post. I'll say this though I just Wilson is just flat out smarter. For some reason I think his demeanor leaves people thinking that he's not thinking.....but this dude from everything I've seen is always thinking about the next move. I don't know if I've ever seen that in a rookie. EVER.

I don't see the "better qb guru" being harbag. Look at the qbs Pete has won with against MUCH BETTER competition. Palmer. Leinart. Booty. Sanchez. None of those guys are very good and Pete lost no more than two games in a season for a decade with any one of them... except his first year.

Harbag is considered a qb guru for winning in the weakest conference in college and then doing well with Luck? Color me unimpressed.

It's simple Klapperschmuck is young, single, all tated-up, he poses nude or shirtless at every drop-of-the-dime opportunity and is probably banging everything that moves while trolling every hip/trendy bar from the Jersey Shore to Miami Beach and Hollywood Blvd. to the Castro district. You're gonna sell a lot of jerseys to 14 year old little girlies, teeny-boppers and wannabe's when you put that much effort into it.

Meanwhile Russell is married, responsible, focused, driven, which doesn't translate well to the tabloids or Access Hollywood or TMZ. He's going out to dinner with his wife or sitting in a dark room at the VMAC watching film. His Jerseys are being bought by actual fans for themselves and then they buy a second and third jersey for their wife and kids.
