So much is being posted about Wilson because it's his team. He's the man. Even if the defense improves, he can't have long stretches of not producing. Defenses in this era don't shut teams down consistently. Not even the better ones. Russell wants to be an all time and talk about his legacy before it's written, win the games. No excuses

That is just a silly statement. The Seahawks are 32nd in the NFL in total defense. They have the 30th ranked run defense and 26th passing defense. They give up over 440 yards per game.

How many yards would the defense need to give up before you stop talking about Wilson? 450 yards? 550 yards? The Seahawks are historically bad on defense, in the running to dethrone the 2012 Saints who gave up over 7000 yards in a 16 game season and that was only 437 yards per game.
I'll stop talking about Wilson when he proves he can carry a team deep in the playoffs. What are you gonna say if the defense gets back to middling and Russell performs like he did the back half of last season?

I'd throw up too if he regressed that heavily again.

well if pete carroll backs off and doesn't meddle, russell wilson will be fine. and greg olsen confirmed that yes, pete carroll meddled and thats why the team struggled. but no, they won't make it through the playoffs and thats because of the defense coaching.

Meddling or not, i dont think Russell, while being a way above average QB, can carry a team to the promised land in a heavy pass attack offense. I think his flaws while few, are fatal in that respect. I'll happily admit I was wrong if he does it on this or any other team.

I think fans automatically think great QB = QB that can do the above. They aren't. You need to be a great QB to do that, but not every great QB can. All the other QBs need much more contribution from the running game and defense in order to reach that ultimate goal. Russell is good enough that he doesn't need as much of that stuff as most, but he still needs it. He obviously feels differently. Now we all get to find out. We'll know one way or another at season's end

Real fans of Russell Wilson want what's actually good for his skillset - an offense with a real rushing attack that lets him focus on what he does best, uncorking it deep. Let Russ Cook just sets him up to get his dick knocked in the dirt by cover 2, like he did at the end of 2020, regardless of what those who over-rely on cherry picked stats say. People who actually can understand what they see when watching football know this. It's plainly obvious.

The bigger problem is that Russell won't accept that. At least fans have no say in the matter.

its simple. Yall said he can't pass over the middle/short, he has, he can, and accurately. Those videos were just a little piece of evidence. I could go back and find more, but i won't because it won't matter will it? You guy will just keep pushing a false narrative or start a new one.

You're toying with semantics here. Use your noggin. No one, and this should be very very obvious, is saying that he CAN'T or that he NEVER HAS. The argument revolves around it being a relative weakness of his.

Except if you bothered to read all the posts on this topic some do say he can't and never has. As to it being a weakness ahh he completes over 65% over the middle so it being a a weak ess is also a false narrative

over 65%? wow, i didn't know that. You can point this out and these people will still keep pushing a false narrative. they don't like wilson, i think they never have, or they are feeling like they have to protect pete carroll at all cost.

They also don't like facts or the truth but they sure love their hate.

I am still looking for your truth, you have tried to go back to 2013 so far to find a little bit here and there to support your argument. We have multiple stories from multiple sources and many more peoples opinions on what they have seen over the years as Seahawks fans as what Wilsons tendencies and weaknesses are.

and you also heard the same stories from multiple seahawks players, most recently trey flowers and dj reed and yet the blame still falls on russell wilson, yet yall still defend pete carroll. every qb has weaknesses, but yall are using wilson's "weaknesses" as a green light to deflect from pete carroll. all in all, wilson is gonna be good wherever he goes, pete carroll is gonna have to find someone else to cover for him, all of pete carroll's flaws will be shown unless he retires. then what? without wilson, what's the game plan?

65% would be 8% under his overall percentage this season, so yeah... relative weakness. Key word RELATIVE.

over 65%. over.

If it's over 65%, one would think that it's under 66%, otherwise the quoted stat would have been "over 66%."

Actually, Johnny boy, source that stat for me. I'd like to see it.

What a horseshit post. Genuinely one of the stupidest I've seen on any board, ever. I guess any dumbass with a family has their opinions suddenly become beyond contestation?

What excellent logic. Holy shit.

Pete Carroll has a wife and kids. You now may not question him.

See how pants-on-head absolutely batshit stupid that sounds?

The actual truth is, most QBs don't throw over the middle often. This is just a narrative for Russell Wilson critics who need something else to nitpick at. Because they have a deep, psychological need to put him down. They'll be the first to praise the FLAWLESS Drew Brees, Josh Allen, Tom Brady, and Aaron Rodgers though. As I've always said, this isn't about sports for some of these people. It's deep rooted bias.

Russ threw to the middle a few times in the Vikings game. The narrative that he can't see over the line is something that was never rooted in facts. Kyler Murray also throws over the middle.

Add this narrative to the other Russell Wilson narratives that have died in recent years:

- Russell Wilson can't carry a team without a good defense.
- Russell Wilson can't see over his linemen, which is why he is such a bad Redzone QB. Then Schotty came in and we were no longer bad in the red zone.
- Russell Wilson (under Bevell) is great in the 4th quarter, because he's stat padding and defenses are playing Prevent (lol).
- Russell Wilson (under Bevell) isn't disciplined enough to orchestrate an opening drive touchdown. Then Russell Wilson (under Schotty) became a GREAT redzone QB somehow.
- Russell Wilson (under Bevell) only excels in the second half of the season, because teams start to play more running game/defense in the second half of the season. And Russ can't play in colder weather.
- Russell Wilson disappears in the second half of the season. Despite him excelling in the second half of the season under Bevell (hint, it was Schotty).
- Russell Wilson can't stay in the pocket (under Bevell). But then suddenly could stay in the pocket (under Schotty).

I don't know what Waldron's tendencies are. What I do know is that Russell Wilson is extremely coachable and has been a different QB in terms of performance under now 3 coordinators.

I thought this is what I saw from Russell this last week. I think it is more to do with Pete than russell or waldron.

Pass chart WIL777781 2021 REG 3 1632700763932

Pass chart WIL777781 2021 REG 2 1632098774946

Pass chart WIL777781 2021 REG 1 1631485538102

I really liked when I saw us attacking the middle and the middle edges vs the vikes. Then it just stopped.

I think this really does show what Pete likes to do.

It is he wrote about it in his book. It's called attacking the red line. there have been posts about it. The problem is the one pushing this false narrative don't care about the truth,
