I would like to remind all of you that Jacksonville, with the mighty Blaine Gabbert as their QB, drafted a punter 5 spots before the Seahawks selected Russell Wilson. Thanks morons!

Meh, I don't like to trot this one out. If you want to embarrass everyone including the Seahawks, look at the list of people drafted before Tom Brady.

Probably not any punters.
6 quarterbacks among the 150 or so players drafted before him. As for the record? Quite impressive.

Well I stand corrected.

But still... Blaine Gabbert. They could have had Russell Wilson. Pretty curious where the Seahawks would be right now and who'd be Quarterbacking our team if Jacksonville had pulled the trigger. I suppose we'd be suffering through year 2 of the Matt Flynn era.

Kirk Cousins era.

Good call given Washington was one of several teams targeting Wilson in the 3rd round.

I'll believe this if I ever see proof. After the embarrassment of not picking him when they needed a QB, about 15 other teams were "just about" to draft Wilson. I imagine a few weeks after the regular season started last year, some GMs/scouts went and scribbled his name somewhere on their draft boards while nervously looking behind their shoulders.

Kicker Sebastian Janikowski was drafted 17th by the Oakland Raiders.

Gotta say, he's lasted longer and has probably been more productive than any other Al Davis draft pick since then.

Trade up? We ignored him and took Curry. We could have drafted Sanchez had we wanted to; he was taken after our pick.

We ignored him and took Curry.

Well, that was also a disaster

I completely agree.

God, just look at the guys we could have had with that pick instead: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_NFL_Draft

Yeah, and then years later we trade our first to get Harvin.

Does anyone remember the last time in the RW era, where we did NOT have the lead in the 4th quarter? Maybe at SF a year+ ago?
This means, this RW team has NEVER been blown out. We have been in almost each and every game with a chance to win. That's impressive.

We were down in the 4th against Tampa then tied it with 2mins left.

RW has had plenty of 4th QTR comebacks and Game winning drives- He has 7 comebacks and 9 game winning drives as defined by Pro-football reference.

2012- GB, NE, @CHI, STL, @ WAS
also he had comeback but the defense failed him against DET, ATL.
2013- CAR, HOU, TEN, TB

So glad Wilson is our QB and look forward to watching him play and all the records he'll be owning.

I'm with you on this one. It's funny, but teams seem to get a feel for when other teams like a player. If freaking 15 teams liked Russell Wilson that much, you would think there would've been more buzz and someone would've grabbed him in the 2nd or top half of the 3rd.

It's not like Russ was totally under the radar. He was incredible productive at Wisconsin, threw behind and NFL OL there, and had great tape at NC State as well. I think a lot of GMs are saving face by saying they were about to pick Wilson....especially since he's better than all but a few QBs in the league already.

As for the record, unless Wilson gets hurt, there is no way he doesn't get it. Like someone else posted though, if Wilson doesn't start/win at least 4 more, Luck might turn around and break it right after Wilson does.

During the Jacksonville game my dad and I were talking about this. Especially since Jon Ryan was outkicking that 3rd round punter during warmups and during the game. Distance and hang time.

He's not even a very good punter and they took him in the 3rd before Wilson.
