Geno's agent is asking (nicely) for more money. That's exactly what he's supposed to do. This is a guy that has openly talked about the need for fully guaranteed contracts. He knows, if Geno plays well this year, he can probably use this "I told you so" situation to get more money and more guarantees, next off season. "You had your shot at $___, but now it'll take more.". If Geno plays poorly, no one will spend 5 minutes talking about what happened 10 months ago. Geno's not holding out. This is a discussion about next off season.
JS is talking to Geno's reps and keeping lines of communication open, but not signing any checks. That's exactly what he's supposed to do. I posted in a different thread that JS has waited years to be in this situation: 2 QBs that could start that both have value (contracts) for years to come. JS is following the Green Bay process and is building value for the team.
The fact both sides are actually doing what they should and what you would expect us a good thing. No surprises is good. It's not TWilliams or BAiyuk. If their agents had been in open communication for a season, maybe they'd be adding value to their team instead of being a big distraction. Laying out a position now is just a starting point to start adjust expectations depending on '24 performance.
