Suh isn't visiting Oak.. MIA is a real threat to land him though.

How and why in the hell would any team pay elite QB money to a DT?

This is absurd.
15-17M is in no way elite quarterback money unlike 20-22M which is the current baseline for elite quarterback money. Either way you pay the man the money because he is a bonafide tilt the field gamechanging defensive player that plays on the inside. Which are rare beyond belief and never seen in free agency.

Whatever, they can have him. That's like 2 Marshawn Lynchs'.

That IS elite QB money for a defensive lineman and it is absolutely ABSURD to pay 1 guy that much money.

People thought Haynesworth was some sort of game tilting player, gave him all that money and what happened.

I would love to have the guy, but at those prices, no friggin way, we have a TEAM to take care of.

Inflation based on the salary cap. Wait till you see the next round of qb money.

You just wait and see what kind of money will be paid in the next two years especially to quarterbacks and we'll revisit this.

I'll literally weep with joy if we somehow work a deal with Suh. Literally. That said, there are other guys hitting the market who'd certainly be a net positive at a better price. I'm thinking of guys like Paea. Assuming Mebane comes back to be his rock-steady self, an acquisition like that would work out quite nicely.

Oh, without a doubt guys like Paea and Melton would work in a rotation and be a hell of a lot cheaper, but Suh would be epic and the best case scenario for our defense. You could replace at least 2 guys with him to offset some of the cost.

In other words, I'm in total agreement with you. I wouldn't weep, but I could get drunk and beat my wife for kicks. Always a good time.

Incorrect this is what the article said....
Seattle Seahawks: Seattle is included as a dark horse team only because of reports that Suh would like to play close to home. Suh is a Portland native.

OK, I get it, you LOVE Suh, good for you.

He wants M O N E Y, and money that we don't have to spare, so in order to let you down easy for the obvious disappointment of him NOT signing here, we could get 2 excellent players to take his place for that money.

He will NOT be a Seahawk..Period.

You don't know that. Personally I agree with you that he won't be signing with the Seahawks but as I have said upthread I have no clue how the money actually works and I would be willing to bet real money you don't either. On the otherhand if we were to get him we wouldn't need 3-4 or maybe more "excellent" players.

I'm just saying there are options and ways to go that the Seahawks may do that deviate from what has been done while they were rebuilding the team from scratch. And this is a player that you definitely at least consider if not actually try one of those options.

I think it's doubtful he lands in Seattle. From what I'm hearing, returning to Detroit is a real possibility but if he does leave it will likely be for MIA. I think he does have interest in SEA but at the end of the day other teams will be offering much more.

There is enough information out there through websites like spotrac and overthecap (And Davis Hsu on Fieldgulls) to provide the casual fan with enough information as to how the salary cap works and realistic roster moves.

But what it comes down to is this. Suh can command in the ballpark of the most expensive contract for a defensive player in NFL history if his goal is to chase the money. While the Hawks have outside chance to do it, other holes and the desire to sign Wagner and Wilson to extensions puts a shadow on the realistic ability for the Hawks to land Suh.

People got mad at me because I mentioned that he isn't coming here. Take off the blue shades guys, he wants money. You really think he is going to settle for a 40% pay cut?

Like I said, notice how there hasn't been a mention of the Seahawks since he made that comment a month ago. I think he was speaking out loud, not knowing our cap situation. I think if someone told Suh our cap situation, he woudln't have made that comment.

Well considering that Miami is in the "lead" and they have basically no cap space I'm not sure you can say definitively whether or not the Hawks are true players in the Suh sweepstakes

No one appears mad. They just don't agree with your desire to end this thread. It doesn't have much to do with your opinion on the subject. In fact yours is the realistic position. It's the off-season and speculation and fantasy scenarios are enjoyable for certain fans. Remember to factor in the fans that aren't posting because they agree with you and don't feel like making redundant comments.

FA begins in like four days. There will be plenty of new Seahawks topics to discuss when FA opens. Until then, let fans fantasize.
