Again with the Percy comparison

I shouldn't but I find this quite annoying. Percy had baggage. They had wheels and a flower print. Suh has baggage too. Suh's don't have a handle and he doesn't need wheels. Obviously different! Suh's bags are quite different than Percy's so don't even think of comparing them.

Carry on.

I can totally see the Percy to Suh comparison.

Sincerely,

One minor concern though if they brought Suh in and dumped Mebane.. Mebane is beloved in that locker room. I hope the defense would be able to deal with that but we know how tightknit they are.

I love the idea of adding Suh but only if he wants to take a steep discount and I think that's far fetched.. Especially when teams out there with ample cap room will give him a blank check essentially

I don't see the Percy Harvin comparison. Suh has always brought it on the field and the Lions had an unreal run defense this past year.

This would mean Mebane would have to go - simple as that.

This all being said, Suh was the last rookie class to have ridiculous contracts so, unlike Russell Wilson, he has made $68 million during his career. That being said, no way we pay him close to $15 million and someone else will throw tonnes of cash at him.

He would be awsome, but I like jordan hill.. he was a beast in the last few games he played. Plus defense has been number one for last 3 years. We need offensive help. Alot of help! Would rather sign a top wr and a top oline man with that money and I wouldn't mind if our defense drops to number 5 if we have a better offense.

I'm obviously in the minority here, but I don't want Suh on our team. Nor do I want Schwartz, for whoever suggested it in another thread. I'll still root for the Hawks regardless of who they sign, and Suh obviously would make our defense dramatically better, but:

a) I don't think it's wise from a cap standpoint, unless they're willing to let go of players like Mebane and McDaniel, which IMO would create significantly more depth issues on the DL than it would solve,
b) It will limit our ability to add to the team in other areas where we are lacking (receivers, particularly)
c) I think he's a dirtbag, and I don't want a dirtbag on our team.

Say it takes 15 million (assumes Oakland offers 18m)

Guys we'd lose:

Mebane 5.7 million
McDaniel 3.6 million
Carpenter (expected 3 million)
Zach Miller 3 million

That's 15.3m there. Figures taken from Davis Hsu's cap 2015 breakdown.

This still allows for:

Extending Wilson
Extending Sweezy
Extending Wagner
Resigning Kearse
Resigning Moeaki
Expected sign of UFA DT (2m)

It's not as far fetched as one might assume. It would require drafting replacements for Mebane, Carpenter and Miller. One could also not sign a UFA DT (since Suh would be part of that), and keep Miller and find 1m elsewhere (perhaps lose Kearse).

Thing is, at #31, we should easily be able to replace Carpenter. There will be great day one starter OG talent available at that point. Additionally, at #62, we'll be in a great position to draft a run stuffer specialist to replace Mebane. This kind of move really isn't as far fetched as we might think it

Sounds like a sure-fire way to totally neglect the offense -- all for a flashy new toy for the already #1 ranked defense in the league.

Getting Suh would go a long way in erasing the pain from the Super Bowl loss.

Is Suh a "team first" guy? You sure this guy is someone we need in the locker room? I'm not sold

Not really sure if i'd want him with the dirty on the field stuff, but if he can clean it up and stop, it would sure be worth considering. If he came and signed here, Hawks would become the most hated team in the league. What's he like in the locker room? How realistic that he signs here, and what kind of interest would/do Hawks have in him. He certainly would upgrade the pass rush and make it unstoppable alongside Bennett and Avril.

Offer him a Bennett 1-2 year prove it type deal.

Suh plays to deliberately injure players, which is cheating. Voting to acquire him is a vote for the Hawks to cheat. I vote no.

Like pe said, his love of the Hawks going back to before the Lions drafted him was known.

To me, this is like signing Reggie White, sans pulpit. If you can do it and not wreck the model, you do it.

The Raiders have twice as much to spend and would still get him to a short flight home. I have been saying he goes to the Raiders for months now, I will stick with that.

You are probably right, but it would be something to have a true interior DL who would own the pocket on any team we faced the rest of his career. If the money can work I would be really excited!

If Seattle did land Suh, it would make things interesting with Lynch. And for some other players too, namely Unger and Okung.

Zero percent chance it happens, but might Seattle consider trading Wright to free up money? There are a few big contract guys who other teams would gladly pay. Wright is the first that springs to mind for me.

Rosterbation complete.

I am thankful for this rumor.

At least we are not discussing "The Play".

It's a relief. I don't care what happens as long as we are moving on! :)

It's bleacher report. Let me know when ESPN or SI reports this.

Bleacher report is getting more cred as they are moving towards national writers and away from the guy writing stories in his man cave (e.g., Cole Freeman). I used to always say, "NEXT" when a BR report came, but nowadays, I just follow their national writers with a track record.

As for Suh, his on the field stuff is so overblown. Ooooooh....he stepped on some guys! Oooooh, he had the gall to hit a QB to hard. It's nonsense.

Suh on our D-line would almost be unfair to the NFL lol. But it ain't gonna happen. He's probably getting $15 million/year at a minimum.

Though one thing everyone should remember is the cap is going to increase correct, and nobody knows how much? Who knows, maybe the cap goes up quite a bit due to the money that the NFL is printing.
