I've got news for you, the league didn't start in 2002, but the current division alignment did. Which meant new rivals that each team would play twice, every year. The NFCW was no longer " your " division. Once the crappy teams in Atlanta, NO and Carolina were gone, it was a new division. The history of winning it didn't get removed, nor was it forgotten, but it wasn't our history. I am old enough to remember when the Niners SUCKED before the glory years.

Maybe a little reminder of how Niner fans welcomed the Hawks to their little pocket of superiority. Telling us how we were going to be the perennial punching bags to the awesomeness of the Niners. How the AFCW was chump change and the Hawks were in for a long, painful ride.

In the early years of this ride, Hawk fans weren't going out of their way to trash Niner fans, even after Bitch slapping them for SIX STRAIGHT GAMES. No, we were content with getting into the playoffs. The whole time, Niner fans reminding everyone how their greatness was going to pound the Hawks before every game.

The Hawks put together a hell of a season in 2005, went 13-3 and lost a crap SB. Niner fans? " The Seahawks suck, when we go to the Super Bowl we win because we are a superior franchise "

The Niners went 11-4-1, got their asses reamed by the Hawks, who finished a half game behind them, lost a Super Bowl and now that is supposed to mean something?

2006, the Niners completed the rare sweep of a Hawks team by winning against a very, VERY injury riddled Seahawks. Mass celebration ensues, claims of it being their Super Bowl. This coming from the same fans that have such a problem with 42-13 as fans of a team that went 6-10. The next season the Hawks swept the Niners by no less than 20 points in both games on their way to their 4th straight division title.

Hmmmmm maybe the fans should have been compassionate to Niner Nation, explained how grateful they were to have been allowed to play in the presence of their team's history.

So maybe you have a point Marvin, the fans should have been much more considerate of the Niners, especially after all the class they show everyone else.

Or maybe we should just go on knowing that as it is configured now, that the division belongs to the Seahawks. Because it does.

The history of winning it didn't get removed, nor was it forgotten, but it wasn't our history. I am old enough to remember when the Niners SUCKED before the glory years.

Well...

1) I was responding to a post about how Niner fans go crazy when Seattle fans only include the seasons that the Niners were bad. I was attempting to say that it has nothing to do with that. It has to do with many Seattle fans speaking as tho none of that history ever happened. I really don't think you can appreciate this because you don't have that history in the division (and I'm not talking about championships or anything like that). If this situation were reversed I think you would have a far greater appreciation for what I'm trying to say.

2) I expect NOTHING from Seattle fans. They behave exactly as I would expect. I was simply explaining where the annoyance comes from. Do I expect you to bow down to the superiority of the 49ers? Of course not!! To even suggest so means that you are missing my point entirely. The Rams have the same divisional history that the 49ers do and for a time there they hated the 49ers far more than the Seahawks ever have. It isn't an issue of respect for the 49ers. Its the arrogance of Seattle fans who act as tho they have owned the division since inception. Again, I really don't think you can appreciate this unless you've seen it in action. Its like working your ass off at work for 20 years and then some kid walks in and proclaims "I OWN this place!!". That will probably piss you off as well. My personal opinion is that Niner fans saw their team dominate for 20 straight years, be down for 10 years and are now back on top. I'm also old enough to remember all of the painful playoff loses. The 49ers a a very, very good team right now...but it really won't matter unless they win the last game in Feb. Whats worse is that the history of teams who lost the Super Bowl isn't very kind. The last team to WIN the Super Bowl after losing it was the 1972 Miami Dolphins...which were also kinda famous for something else.

6) Finally...OF COURSE SOME Niner fans act the way you describe. You should try being a Niner fan on THIS board and see what it's like. You are essentially making a "pot calling the kettle black" argument...but I think you need to lookin the freakin' mirror. The level of Niner hate on this site is NUTS. There is one MAYBE two threads on 49erswebzone in regards to the Seahawks. It keeps moving largely because there are some good Seahawk fans over there like Hawker and a few others who keep the discussion moving. You guys seem OBSESSED with the hatred of all things 49ers.

Please...tell me why that is? Is it a little brother complex? If the Seahawks truly do own the division, that shouldn't be the case. Jealousy? I highly doubt that since with the 49ers its all as you say "ancient history". Is it how the 49ers "disrespected" you're poor Seahawks when they joined the division? Well...to borrow your phrase, what did YOU expect? A red carpet? Ask Atlanta or New Orleans if they got any different treatment than Seattle did. This is going to set Niner fans on fire. They have real issues with any referenced period that isolates their term of overall losing. The 2000's didn't even happen. I have read many comments stating that "Seahawks fans think the league started in 2002", but they don't, it is just when they started playing the Niners with any regularity. It really doesn't mean anything in the big picture though.

The back and forth between Niner and Seahawk fans is pure entertainment. What era or history matters most? The next one.


I have realized this much though. When the Hawks beat the Niners, they beat tham badly in most cases. Not so much the other way around.

The point I'm trying to make is if you do a proper analysis, you look at player match ups, scheme match ups, coaching matchups, and so on. Yes, in a proper analysis you do look at stats, with wins and losses being important stats. I agree. The analysis leans too much on the statistical and not enough on the player matchups.

As far as I know, divisions aren't *owned* by any team. They are won. All fan bases do have their arrogant moments, and usually when they've won either the division crown or the superbowl. I remember the Rams fans going onto other team boards and basically annoying the hell out of the other fans because of their snotty superiority about their Greatest Crap on Turf offense.

For the moment, and it's only a moment, the 49ers *are* division winners. I sympathise with the Seattle Fans regarding that. I'm sure you folks would like the division crown to be in your side of the ledger sheet. So would the Cardinal and the Rams fans.

I think all the Seattle bluster about *owning* the division - is just that - bluster. Nothing against that at all, it's appropriate here in your boards. Have at it. I'll just say that to win the division crown isn't easy, not against one of the toughest divsions in all of the NFL. If seattle wins it this year, they will have earned it, and should be favorits to win the superbowl.

We aren't the kid walking in after 20 years. The division was brand new when the Hawks joined it and were an established team. As I stated before, the entire league re-aligned, created new divisions. The NFCW was one of those new divisions, it lost 66% of it's previous teams and gained 50% back. The NFL just called it the NFCW. The history of the Niners winning the old division was great, good for them. That division is gone though.

As far as history goes? It doesn't matter. No one here makes a claim of being fans of a great team because they went to the Super Bowl in 2005. There are Niner fans though that feel since they have history, which does date back quite a while, that it plays some sort of role in the success of today. It is like the "Niners never lose in the Super Bowl because they are champions" comments.

Don't flatter yourself. This board is full of humor and since the Niner fan sign up is at an all-time high right now (why is that?) and it is the off-season, the best place to find humor is in SF. Douchebaugh? Papaki and his Turtle? Brooks-Bottle-Bashing? That is great stuff.

So i wanna know...why is it that Seattle fans are SOOOOO hung up on the Red and Gold? Even your damn AVATAR is making fun of a 49er. In my wildest dreams I'd never put a Seahawk on my avatar. Its a free country so I got no issues with it...I just don't understand what the issue is. If you are so confident that the division is yours...why the need to hate all things Niners? I don't hate any team in the division. All my hate is reserved for two teams in the NFC East that wear Blue. Why? 1985, 1986, 1990, 1992, 1993, and 2011.

You ACTUALLY believe that Seahawk fans hold some level of jealousy or complex over the Niners. Because we enjoy making fun of them? I could be wrong, but there are two general things that create the desire to ridicule Niner fans. One is that Niner fans actually believe that Hawk fans have some level of envy over nothing, the other is that they are good. I am not confident the division belongs to the Hawks, it is fact. The Niners have won it twice, the Hawks have won it five times since it was formed. When it comes to the division, if you do the research on the division, there will be an asterisk or a reference to the Hawks and Cardinals records relative to 2002.

As far as I know, divisions aren't *owned* by any team. They are won. All fan bases do have their arrogant moments, and usually when they've won either the division crown or the superbowl. I remember the Rams fans going onto other team boards and basically annoying the hell out of the other fans because of their snotty superiority about their Greatest Crap on Turf offense.

For the moment, and it's only a moment, the 49ers *are* division winners. I sympathise with the Seattle Fans regarding that. I'm sure you folks would like the division crown to be in your side of the ledger sheet. So would the Cardinal and the Rams fans.

I think all the Seattle bluster about *owning* the division - is just that - bluster. Nothing against that at all, it's appropriate here in your boards. Have at it. I'll just say that to win the division crown isn't easy, not against one of the toughest divsions in all of the NFL. If seattle wins it this year, they will have earned it, and should be favorits to win the superbowl.

I don't speak for all Seahawk fans, but I, personally, am "hung up" on a team and fan base that can't accept that the tiny window of "dominance" in the division these past 2 years is now closed. Seattle's moving up, 49ers have no where to go but down.

Niner fans however like to mention that Hawk fans can't talk because "They haven't done anything yet". That is another great one. What does that mean anyways? What IS the standard for being able to "talk"? Two years of winning the division and a Super Bowl loss?

1) I was responding to a post about how Niner fans go crazy when Seattle fans only include the seasons that the Niners were bad. I was attempting to say that it has nothing to do with that. It has to do with many Seattle fans speaking as tho none of that history ever happened. I really don't think you can appreciate this because you don't have that history in the division (and I'm not talking about championships or anything like that). If this situation were reversed I think you would have a far greater appreciation for what I'm trying to say.

How can they not include only the seasons the Niners were bad, they have only had TWO good seasons in 10 flipping years. Sorry to disappoint you. The ONLY history between the Hawks and Niners really took place in that time frame.

The ancient history argument cracks me up too since I think you have exactly ZERO of the players still on the roster from your last SB appearance and none of the same coaches. We aren't the kid walking in after 20 years. The division was brand new when the Hawks joined it and were an established team. As I stated before, the entire league re-aligned, created new divisions. The NFCW was one of those new divisions, it lost 66% of it's previous teams and gained 50% back. The NFL just called it the NFCW. The history of the Niners winning the old division was great, good for them. That division is gone though.

As far as history goes? It doesn't matter. No one here makes a claim of being fans of a great team because they went to the Super Bowl in 2005. There are Niner fans though that feel since they have history, which does date back quite a while, that it plays some sort of role in the success of today. It is like the "Niners never lose in the Super Bowl because they are champions" comments.

That is FALSE. The 49ers fell apart due to YEARS of putting off the bill on the Salary cap and POOR management by Terry Donahue. Seattle then got pretty good for awhile (using the West Coast offense mind you and coaches with Roots in SF by way of Green Bay).

3) Just a side note on this one. I was actually rooting for Seattle in the Super Bowl and I think you guys got jobbed.

I don't even WANT to believe that, but if it makes you feel any better, I wanted the Niners to get the crap beat out of them in the 2012 Super Bowl, but I actually wanted them to win the others. Great team, hard not to like, especially since there wasn't any real bad blood between the two.

In fact, I was never that big a fan of TO. Well, I take that back....I liked him up until his ego went haywire. As a rookie and a young player the guy never said a word. Somewhere along the line tho...he just went nuts.

It wasn't "all this crap". It was the pile of dead crow on a platter, that Niner fans refused to swallow. Total denial of the situation. They would get handled EASILY, but prior to the next game, it was the same Ninerhetoric about how the Niners would smash the Hawks, because, you know, they haven't won any Super Bowls.

The last team to WIN the Super Bowl after losing it was the 1972 Miami Dolphins...which were also kinda famous for something else.

Don't flatter yourself. This board is full of humor and since the Niner fan sign up is at an all-time high right now (why is that?) and it is the off-season, the best place to find humor is in SF. Douchebaugh? Papaki and his Turtle? Brooks-Bottle-Bashing? That is great stuff.

I have been a member of the .com Niners nightmare since 2006. My reason for joining? To tell them the Niners looked great on defense and strong in the running game after they won in Qwest. Right now, the Seattle Seahawks are the biggest threat to the 49ers for the NFC West. In addition to that its fun to talk to people who don't already agree with you. The one that is 174 pages is a LONG conversation with SEATTLE fans...Hawker from this very forum among them.
