Except I think the #32 will still get you on that 1st-round rookie deal, though.

So if Price is available (by some miracle), you can have a RB1 for the next 4 years.
Or 5 years if they get him at 32

They can always add bodies because RB bodies are indeed a dime a dozen. Very good ones are not. As far as I am concerned, they screwed the pooch by letting Walker leave while the RB room is a hot mess (I would have put the tag on him and figured this out over the next year). If they don’t get it right, it will be a very rude awakening. That being said, the final grade will only be determined in the fall, on the field and I’m sure JS is “on it”. We will see…..

Depends what K9 you are getting. The last month or so or his overall contract.
I don't think the M's used K9 correctly, he needed to be the primary back without splitting time. He only got that when Charbs went down. Don't matter, he's gotten what he wants and.. well good luck k9

1350 yards rushing for the season seems to qualify as workhorse rb in my opinion. Plus he did that in an offense that was pathetic due to poor QB play. So defenses were keying in and gameplanning for him.
Also Achane had 305 total touches last year for 1838 total yards from scrimmage. Walker has never had more than 255 touches in a season and that was in his rookie year. Achane is much more of a workhorse back than some undersized speed back. People shouldn't just assume.

incorrect. The Chiefs massively overpaid for a guy that has never played an entire season until he split time with Charbs. 2nd contracts, big ones, for of injured RB's are a fool's errand.

No way we get Achane…at least, the incoming massive extension tells me otherwise.

one thing I know for sure? they aren't taking RB in the first round. Never going to happen.
It is the 32nd pick so it's essentially a second round pick anyway and we know John has done that before or we could trade down or we could trade Miami for a chain

He's really, really good though. I'll understand if we're not interested, but would be crazy excited if we pulled it off.
Not even sure how hes more expensive than k9... 15 a year seems nuts unless its Derrick Henry... oh wait.. thats what Derrick Henry makes with 1500 yard seasons and 13 plus TDs a year

I can understand trading for, and paying, Achane and not paying K9. K9 seemed like he was always missing games every year due to some kind of injury. I don't think Achane has had any problem with missing games because of nagging injuries. If we are going to pay for a top-5 NFL RB, I'd prefer it we pay one that doesn't miss games every year.

If given the option of drafting Notre Dame RB Jadarian Price with our 1st round #32 pick OR trading that pick for De'Von Achane...then I would much rather trade for Achane. Jadarian Price is not a great RB prospect and he would be a big reach if taken at #32. Price is a low 2nd round talent. Achane is only 24 years old (two years older than Price) and has at least 5 years of elite years left in him.

Here are a couple of good videos of him. I knew Achane was fast (4.32 40-yard), but he also has really good contact balance and vision. Most speed RB tend to have poor contact balance but thats not the case with Achane.

I guess that you prefer to not have a running back room. Those stupid Chiefs. When will they learn? Thanks for playing!

The Chiefs haven't had a memorable running back since they cut Kareem Hunt in 2018. They haven't handled the position well, perhaps including this expensive transaction. He helped drive a remarkable run with us late season/playoffs (and earned a place in franchise lore), but I don't think any of us will be surprised to hear he's nicked up in training camp.

JS loves RBs. He has said if he could, he would take a rb every round. I don’t think he would pass on the right guy in round 1.
