We've had some success in the past with RBs picked in the late rounds. Chris Carson and Thomas Rawls spring to mind. Unless you land a stud in the 1st round, it's usually better to wait until later. RBs have a short shelf life.
Except I think the #32 will still get you on that 1st-round rookie deal, though. We've done pretty well picking RBs in the 2d round lately. Our #32 is probably worth a mid #2 and a #4/5 or so.
You have been a fan for more than 2 years right? Just ignore the 8 years of BS and blame it all on PC?I think by now, dot net, should be trusting the guys Schneider drafts.
Schneider’s drafts have been absolute gold since PC left!
You can’t have missed how much better the drafts have been since the 2022 “change in philosophy,” that was rumored to be the quiet removal of PC’s final say in the matter of personnel. You have been a fan for more than 2 years right? LOL. Just ignore the 8 years of BS and blame it all on PC? LOL
Except I think the #32 will still get you on that 1st-round rookie deal, though.
So if Price is available (by some miracle), you can have a RB1 for the next 4 years.
Uhh... The #32 pick is the last pick of the 1st round (essentially the first pick of the 2nd round).Getting Price with our 2nd round pick would be ideal. Though I doubt he will be available in the late 2nd. I'd be okay with trading up in the 2nd round to get him. We would probably have to include future draft capital to get trade up.
I think K9 was always going and Charbonnet was going to take over as the main back. Then he got hurt and Walker had a great last couple of months.I’m confident with JS and MM running the show.
I DO think K9 leaving caught them off guard…not the potential to leave but in the sense that K9 got $15M a year. I think they were thinking more along the lines of “someone will offer $11M or less, we’ll match”.
Loved K9…Love the 1-2 punch model. This is a huge question mark. Detroit rebounded (Pacheco) when they let Montgomery walk.
Now, if Charbs was coming back healthy, we’d all feel a lot better. There were times during the season where a lot of us thought he should’ve been RB1. No, he’s not as dynamic as K9. But, he’s a 4, 3, 4, 5 yard kind of guy. K9 is a 3, 1, 1, 19 kind of guy. Im not saying Charbs is better than K9 (though, that point can be argued) but, I do believe he is better as far as sustaining drives.
The K9 we saw the last few games? That version is one of the best in the league. But when you consider the whole body of work…K9 is good but not $15M a year good. Look at Philly..they’re regretting Saquons $20M a year. They got a bowl out of it so, it’s a hard thing to reconcile.
As it stands, we need a RB1 that will transition to RB2 at some point. If that guy comes from our current roster, I see that as a possibility. If we draft a guy, how much can we expect from a rookie?
If anyone can make this work, it’s JS and MM.
I don’t expect a 14-3 team this year. But, I do expect a playoff contender that may do the same damn thing they did this year…a year when some ‘experts’ had us at 3rd in the division.
No doubt our RB room is a serious concern. We’ve been blessed in this department. Now, there’s uncertainty.
Remember the guys who put together last years roster…they’re still here. They’re still those dudes.
I’m not Eeyore’ing this next season…not when JS and MM are at the helm.
I like this - in theory - that guy is an absolute workout FREAK so you know he will do the work to get healed.I would take Austin Eckler in a heartbeat. I think he’s exactly what the team needs in a smaller faster back to complement Charbs. I know he’s coming off of an Achilles injury, but he’s progressing well and will come cheap
