You are correct Vandelay I got my time tables mixed up but what an idiot to think he could run a two QB system. He would have probably ended up ruining both their careers.

I'm just glad he is not our coach. The guy is a complete tool who repeatedly makes an ass of himself. Give him a little more time and watch the Niners unravel because they have a lot of challenges coming up starting next year and it gets worse the following year.

I guess thats one opinion, Im sure most NFL football pundits would disagree with you. I feel the same about Carroll. Schnieder built an absolute wonderful team only to see Pete do what he always does. Flounder in mediocrity, at least he has Russell now. You may have already won a SB with someone like Cowher, but your stuck with a lifetime avg Coach before last season. As for problems and challenges, i dont really know what your talking about. The Niners move into what will be the Nicest statdium in the NFL. Its a fact they will generate 3 times the profit of what they are doing now. they have their cap managed as well as anyone. So whats the challenge? they lose some good Players, yes. that is every team every year. Nature of the game now. Same will happen to Seahawks. There are no major forseen challenges other than trying to win a SB, just like you guys.

Schneider didn't build the team, Pete and Schneider built the team. It's pretty clear to me that you don't understand how the Seahawks operate.

Second, the 49ers have already had a mini revolt against Harbaugh. It took Frank Gore getting into his face for the 49ers to correct their doldrums. This has not happened with Pete in the Seahawks.

As far as getting new talent into the organization I can honestly say that the 49ers have not done much since Harbaugh arrived. The one exception may be your rookie safety, but other than that, not so much. Compare this to Seattle. Sherman, Thomas, Chancellor, Wagoner, Wilson, Okung and Browner all brought in during the Carroll era.

Finally, people are starting to recognize that the approach in Seattle is unique and special. http://m.espn.go.com/nfl/story?storyId= ... rc=desktop. It seems to be working.

You obviously know nothing about the structure of this team in terms of either management or players, nor have you looked beyond 7-9, 7-9, 11-5.

Not calling a timeout tonight is the type of thing that makes me question his clock management. I'm not saying Pete is Art Shell, but he's not Bellichek either.

Pete Carroll is an excellent secondary guy, best in the league by far.

What he did with the current starting Seattle secondary could not be done by any other team. The L.O.B. would be very good but not as good on other teams, and that's not entirely based on the front 7 play either.

My friend knows ball better than I do and can be pretty unbiased when it comes to other teams. He tells me Pete likes to draft for measurables and simplify things to make his players succeed. He also has a knack of doing things unorthodox with players too (turning a DL into an OL).

He created the hybrid defense in SF in the mid '90s, so it's not just maximizing player's physical abilities either.

A real defensive guru who can actually coach.....like a defensive Norv Turner without the disappointment.

So what's most remarkable about him I think is his ability to know what he needs physically from a player and just go out and find those guys, draft round be damned. That's most likely why his picks have been very successful because eliminating the mental/intangibles (or shall I say reducing their importance) makes picking guys easier.

This is not a backhanded compliment or implication that the team has a bunch of dummies but the reality as we all know is that there are a lot of talented physical specimens in the league that goes nowhere and a lot of that has to do with drive.
