Raider hired John Spytek as GM

With the hiring of Spyek, a guy with strong Tom Brady connection, it's for Spyek, with help from Brady, to hire the next HC. Pete Carroll's dream of becoming HC with overall handle on all football matter no long exist.

I doubt the Raiders are hiring Pete, and there goes the dream geNOs for Pete to trade for Geno.

We may have to cut Geno.

Spytek was not only instrumental in bringing Tom Brady to Tampa, but he played football at Michigan with Brady. So those connections run deep.

On the issue of Pete getting the Raiders job, I heard Pete being interviewed on NFL radio today, and it appears that Brady was a key figure in the Raiders' pursuit of Carroll.

On the topic of assistant coaches, Pete said it wouldn't be just guys he already knows but a mix of people he knows, people he doesn't know and some Raiders coaches from last season. I know we're all dying to find out who his DC and OC are going to be.

This is all a repeat of what Paul Allen did with the Seahawks. It likely will result in a brilliant partnership of leadership between Head Coach and General Manager. Tom Brady looks to be the added sauce. Plus, Coach Pete had a full year to step back and listen and learn in a way that was impossible while still actively coaching.

This is a real turn around for the Raiders. It's now on my list of things to watch grow in 2025.

The Raiders have had two double digit wins in the last 20 years. They have the #6 pick in the draft and 92M in cap room. I hope Pete succeeds and will root for the Raiders over everyone else in the AFC west at this point.

You might not be wrong about that. I don't know what Pete's relationship with Mark Davis is. Mark did speak glowingly of Pete today, as if they had talked a lot.

He's known Mark his whole life, Pete doesn't know him very well personally but knew Al, there was an article when Pete was younger about him spending time with Al talking about football and picking his brain, he admired him quite a bit
