No issues with the penalty....lions need to do better there

Lions shouldn't have had to do better. Game should have been over if officiated properly.

Any of the other refs with a better view should have stepped in to overrule. Instead, the umpire threw the flag and announced the penalty all within about 3 seconds. Didnt even give any time to consult.

And because he was wrong, he played a part in costing the Lions a victory.

Disagree.

Hand hit face mask and we can debate all day long about the extent but when it happened I'd bet everyone thought it was a penalty.

It's not reviewable. Judgment call and sit left the Packers needing to complete a 61 yard pass.

This is on the LIons only in my opinion. No conspiracy

I didnt say anything about conspiracies or reviews.

Refs huddle up all the time before announcing a penalty. They could have done so here. The guy who threw the flag couldnt see that there was no grab, and needed help.

The Lions shouldnt have had to defend a hail mary. The game should have been over.

Conspiracy more directed at the theme here

In slow motion it's not much but at full speed it looked like the right call. No replay on that and all the refs might have just agreed..

Still... 61 yards.

Dumb

WTF were you watching? how is is defensive PI, when the db is playing the ball, has his head turned and the receiver bear hugs him?

Think you responded to the wrong post my friend :)

One of the lineman was lightly jogging over in Rogers direction like the game was over just as Rogers was winding up to throw the ball.

What I've never understood for years is why doesn't the defence rush 6 guys at the QB on those hail mary plays? The only way a QB has the time to run around and avoid the rush, allow all his receivers to run 60 yards down the field, run towads the line of scrimmage while taking 3 seconds to wind up his throw is if the other team only rushes 3 or 4.

Yeah it was dumb on many levels, and I am not yelling conspiracy (at least not on my part). Heck, I actually like the result. The problem is, especially with no time left on the clock, the officials had plenty of time to huddle (which they often do anyway) and take their time to look at it before deciding what the final judgement would be. Considering this is literally the difference on one play between winning and losing and time is not a factor, that extra care should have been made (just as they do in basketball when deciding if a buzzer beating basket is a 2 or a 3 or if a foul really should be called).

They could've talked about it, but not actually "looked' at it.

The extra care should have been made by the LIons. They should get no excuses for losing.

Yep.

If you rewatch it, the guy threw the flag and literally was announcing the penalty within seconds of the flag hitting the grass.

A minute or two wouldnt have hurt. May not have made a difference, but considering his angle was obscured, he should have taken it.

Again the Lions shouldnt have to take extra care. They should have been able to trust that the officials, who get paid to be right, would do their jobs.

When the refs don't do their jobs, they deserve to get raked as much as the Lions secondary in a debacle like this.

Please. We all know better than that. Of course the play isn't 'officially' reviewable, but that isn't what I am talking about. Officials will huddle all the time even if a flag is thrown if the moment is great enough and/or the initial official didn't have a good view of the foul.

Non-reviewable calls and flags get 'reviewed' and even reversed by officials (unofficially) all the time. Given it was the last play of the game, there was no time left on the clock, and given the singular nature of the moment, extra care to get it right should have been made...all WITHOUT actually making it an official review.

I also think (and I hate to agree with Coach Belichek on anything) that perhaps everything should be reviewable.

It's a judgment call....and live it looked like the right one. You can say you disagree with their judgment but you can't definitively say they were wrong...

Many plays look like the right call live that are not.

I can say quite definitively that they were wrong : https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A% ... =eAQHs3gWC

Take a moment, let another ref who had a better angle to see that it was just his shoulder come chat with you, and get the call right. Or at least make an attempt. Slow down.

The officiating will continue to be absolute dreck as long as people keep making excuses for it.

Yes, the LIons defense blew the last play no doubt there. Their "prevent defense" prevented them from winning.

It's not reviewable but it can be changed.....

...... there is precedence of the zebras changing "an announced call".

Remember the PI flag and penalty against Dallas in Dallas in last year's playoff game against the Lions? Again, the call was announced as defensive PI, automatic first down from the spot of the foul....... Then for some unknown reason the refs huddled, talked for about a minute and picked up the flag, in which an obvious infraction occurred.

It wont be long and twisting of the shoulder pads will be a 15 yarder along with everything else.

It can be called the "erin vagina rule" in honor of this commemorative night

I nominate Aaron Rodgers for an Oscar. Best NFL actor.

His head doesn't Bob down till the second defender comes in, so the grasing of the Facemask did not cause it, if the official view was obscured he should have consulted with another official, they over rule each other all the time for clarification. It was a bad call.

Watching live it absolutely looked like a face mask but on the replay you can see he barely grazed it.. I'm sorry but inside 2 minutes these calls HAVE to be reviewable. This is ridiculous.

That said, Rodgers was 80 yards away from the end zone with nowhere to go.. the Lions have to be smarter there and not go high on him when he's obviously going to try to get away raising the possibility of a face mask being yanked by mistake.

Mike McCarthy: "at least our guy actually caught the ball in this one"

Nice. Getting a gift and still managing to be a pissy whiner about a past call.
