Packers just got gifted one and their fans are going apeshit without a mention of the non-facemask. I seriously think packers fans are the worst fans in sports

The irony here is funny

Bitches about the Packers being gifted one, has an avatar of the Packers getting jobbed on one.

Nice. Getting a gift and still managing to be a pissy whiner about a past call.

no f'ing way did he say that. Are you serious or joking?

I wouldn't be surprised. It sounds like something that would come from the "classy" Green Bay Packers.

Thats my entire point. Its not irony lol its hypocrisy. If we are going by the packers words they shouldn't be celebrating this win the way they are. Rodgers is saying this is the best game of his life and he's been on the other side, remember that he bitched in the media for weeks afterwords I haven't heard a word from Detroit. Packers fans are the most entitled A-holes on the planet.

Finally. He admits his guy didn't catch the ball the last time.

Is that really from the last play?

Not before when there was time for sideline pass???

If that is the last pass then a complete lack of understanding by everyone on the Lions team

They could've talked about it, but not actually "looked' at it.

The extra care should be been made by the LIons. They should get no excuses for losing.

Again the Lions shouldnt have to take extra care. They should have been able to trust that the officials, who get paid to be right, would do their jobs.

When the refs don't do their jobs, they deserve to get raked as much as the Lions secondary in a debacle like this.

It's a judgment call....and live it looked like the right one. You can say you disagree with their judgment but you can't definitively say they were wrong...

Actually I understand the judgement due to the acting by Rodgers.

I can definitely say they were wrong

Facemask was graced which is not a penalty

It should be reviewable - especially inside of two minutes.

When you have penalties that directly decide the outcome of the game, and you have a history of botching these calls on a repeated basis, something needs to be done.

I'm not offering excuses for the Lions. I'm addressing the fact that that facemask penalty does NOT fit the parameters of the NFL's own rule book. I know it's quick, and in real time it looked like a penalty - and that is precisely why the option for instant replay should exist. I love the human element of sports, but when it repeatedly costs team's games, it might need to be looked at.

Give teams one penalty challenge a game. Not on non-calls, but on actual penalties called on the field. If you lose the challenge, you lose a timeout and an additional five or 10 yards could be tacked on. I am just spit balling here of course, but the officiating in the NFL seems to be getting worse, with referrees not even understanding the rule book that governs their jobs. Something needs to be done.

Not only is this ridiculous because there are no GB receivers within 30 yards of them, it's ridiculous because the play started with 0 seconds on the clock. Why are you guarding the sidelines like they're going to try and go out of bounds with 0 seconds to go? Even if there were receivers in the area, the defenders still should have been deep.

I'm sorry, but as much as the refs again screwed up with their stupid penalty this game is on the Lions. Even after that huge gift of a call by the refs, the Lions ONLY rushed three players that last play. They gave Rogers plenty of time to throw that last pass. If they had put a 5 or even 6 man pressure on Rogers he would have had to throw quick and the game would have been over. They had no time for a FG. Only a TD. The Lions blew it. Plain and Simple.

Agreed. In fact if the play was only to rush three, then all eight remaining Lions players should have formed a picket around he end-zone and only defended that (which is why it's hard to make a Hail Mary). The entire rest of the field does not need to be defended at all.

A little too simplistic for my taste. The Lions didn't play the last play well at all, but it never should have been ran. I'm not railing against GB here but the refs definitely let the players play on the last play because the holding by the Packers offensive line was blatant and obvious.

The game wasn't decided by the refs I guess, but they absolutely put GB in the best position to win.

Dean Blandino said the facemask penalty should have never been called. Basically, brushing up against an opponent's facemask is not a penalty, like the actual rule clearly states. The refs should have the option of video when they're huddling up and trying to discern if an actual penalty occurred. Too much guesswork involved.

For as bad as the Lions defended that last play, it should have never happened in the first place.

Embrace technology, NFL. Make penalties reviewable inside of two minutes. That will hopefully lessen the odds of things like this happening. It's BS that another call was blown that had a direct effect on the final score. It dictated it.

I know the Packers winning actually helps us a bit, but I don't care. I am sick and tired of watching referees decide games like they did last night.

For such a wealthy empire, you'd think that the NFL could do better with the atrocious officiating.

On another note. Mike McCarthy is a clown. Is he really that mentally weak that all he can think about after a huge gift wrapped win is the Seahawks game from more than three years ago?

Weak sauce.

The Hawks are so much in the Packers heads. I'm hoping for a matchup against them in the playoffs. The Pack will get rolled this time.

We do love a ref controversy here on .net...

To clarify my point, i'm not saying it was a good call, or even the right call. I just don't see it as the egregious error others do. In the end, the Lions shouldn't have had any trouble ending the game regardless. That pisses me off, as I stayed up to watch the Packers lose.

If the refs really wanted to gift the Packers the game (as some are contending, not just here, but all over social media) they would have given the PI on the play before.

Bad call? Sure... But those happen, in every game, to both teams. If the 15 yards would have put the Packers in field goal range maybe my position on the play would be different. I just don't see the outrage here. I just see the Lions doing Lion things.

I really don't know how some people enjoy sports the way they approach things that don't go the way of their favorite teams.

How about Rodgers ripping off his helmet in celebration on that last play?

Cleveland lost a game when refs penalized Dwayne Rudd for that years ago.
