.) We can safely conclude that our franchise QB is better than Minnesota's, and it ain't even close. I'm amazed at how quickly RW has improved and developed his game in just 9 weeks. Our "homework" for him this week was him playing better in the third quarter. While he didn't start off so hot he more than made up for it with a methodical 73 yard drive highlighted by a beautiful seam pass to Miller. The guy doesn't cease to amaze. No matter what happens this season don't you just sleep better at night knowing we have this guy at QB?
.) I'm loving how Rice (and Miller as well) is really starting to assert himself as an impact WR the past several games. I also like the adjustment of making Tate the receiver on the WR screens instead of the blocker. Getting Tate on short high percentage completions and letting him create in open space is maximizing his assets. The WR screens actually were effective today for once.
.) Our pass defense was stellar today. I thought the pass rush was effective for the most part and our secondary played lights out. If their RB ends up being the leading receiver of the game mission accomplished!
.) On the other hand, our rush defense continues to be a major chink in the armor. I think it's obvious that a lot of the issues are on the LB's. I noticed a few critical missed tackles by Wagner and Morgan and one obvious missed gap assignment by Wagner that resulted in a huge run for AP. Of course, losing KJ in the first quarter definitely messed things up but still that should be no excuse. I mean we had 8 sometimes 9 guys in the box and we still couldn't stop the guy. There was a post or two this past week on the QB's that we'd be facing the rest of the season. I think someone needs to make a post on who the remaining RB's we will be facing; that it more concerning to me.
.) PC continues to make stupid challenges IMO. While Wilson talks and makes improvement week by week on his game, PC continues to make the same mistakes as an in-game decision maker. While it ultimately didn't come back to haunt us, losing that TO could have been costly. If he doesn't start getting his head together we're going to lose a game at some point in the future because of a bad challenge. I just hope it doesn't cost us a playoff game.
.) The score should have been 30-17. The refs made a major blunder not calling the delay of game on Minnesota that would have pushed their 55 yard try to a near impossible 60 yarder.
.) Kudos to Trufant for forcing a fumble but man the dude looked old on the PI call. It's time to activate Thurmond and let him take over the nickel back position.
.) Overall, great win, but I have to wonder in the back of my mind if we would have beat them in their house.
