OK the "mysterious whistle" play I'm mostly over it now, but didn't the Niners run into our kicker, mowed him over from my view. Why was there no penalty or did I just see things wrong?

It was actually a great Vlade-flop by Haushka, but it doesn't matter anyway on a blocked kick.

Talking about that play, Watch the play over if you can and watch all 11 of the 49ers on the field didn't move one inch it's almost like they were expecting that whistle to be blown.... I think there might be a little conspiracy from the 49ers that they blow that whistle and not a fan in the crowd....

It should've been a false start, half the line moved after the whistle. Just a ridiculous play

Well...players on defense are trained to take off as soon as the ball is snapped. I'm sure they heard it but weren't going to let up when they saw the ball snapped.

The announcers made a good point. We should have been called with a penalty (false start) when our lineman stood up. No play. But was not so. It is funny to hear about the 9er's fan whining about the officiating when we were hosed the first half. Another play when the were clearly offsides on d when lined up. Then the hit when RW slid. I am glad the whistle play turned out to be inconsequential in the end so I don't have to sound like a 9er fan.

call me crazy, but what are the chances of apposing fans blowing a whistle to throw them off?

Then all the Hawk fans around this little pile of **&*&, should have grabbed him/her and told the security staff about this and had that person ejected from the game.

Besides the whistle, and amazement that a False Start penalty wasn't called...I'm searching for a screenshot, but it sure looked like the right side of the Niners line was lined up offsides. I was screaming at the TV (but that's normal) and thought Pete was talking to the Linesman about it pre-snap.

There were 6 guys standing up moving as the ball was snapped. Should be a false start. How do you not call that.

The offsides was another obvious miss. Blatant offsides. He was over the line by a foot.

The QB slide was a gray area. Since it's a QB you'd think they'd be flag happy. If it was RG3, Brady, Rodgers, or Kaep it would have been flagged.

Which play there were a few.. the one that irks me is the 4 and 2 or 1 we went for and would have had like the announcers said IF they would have called that penalty or even if the dude didn't jump the line

Sad to say, but I think it could have just as easily been an idiot 12 who didn't know to be quiet when we're snapping or realize that whistles might confuse our own players. Doubt a Niner fan with a whistle would have made it out of there in one piece.

Luckily, it didn't end up mattering. That would have been a cruddy way to lose.

Not sure why we were trying to make so much noise during a punt anyway; we were technically still on offense. Wait until it's kicked at least.

What I'm curious about is whether or not the officials had the power to blow the play dead and/or huddle up and replay the down. My guess is that they could have, that there's a rule covering something like that. Like if a beach ball blows onto the field or something like that -- those kinds of things cause plays to be re-done.

Any rules freaks have some insight?

@twisted_steel we did hear the whistle, we all stood up. Crazy situation, snap was rushed. Teachable moment for all of us
