Yes Ints have been a problem for Geno this year but among starting QBs he was 5th for completion percentage and 6th for total yards. Even with all the interceptions his passer rating puts him at 19th.

Who are the alternatives?
  • Darnold the majority of Execs believe he will be kept by the vikings but if he isn't there will be a lot of desperate teams going after him. He has had one good season after a bunch of bad ones (like Geno after his 1st season starting for us), we will not get Darnold on such an friendly contract and we don't have the cap space to compete with many other teams. Even if we did find the money who is to say we get Vikings Darnold and not Jets or Panthers Darnold
  • Another FA, we probably could get someone like Lance, Z. Wilson or Fields but they are a significant downgrade on Geno.
  • An aging Bridge: Russ coming back would be funny but unlikely, someone like Briscet, Mariotta or Dalton are possible but again worse than Geno for not a lot less cash (once you add in Geno's Dead Money)
  • A top QB pick, it is a poor QB draft class, To get Sanders or Ward would virtually all our draft capaital for the next 3 years (the 49ers gave 3 1st rounders and a 3rd to go from 12 to 3 so we would probabvly need ot give up mor ethan that)
  • A lower QB pick, I believe Beck and Milroe are a reach at 18, I would favor getting one of them in Round 2 if avialable (maybe even high R2 through trading up or down) but they shouldn't be thrown into the fire (especially given out O-line) straight away that causes a lot of QBs to bust. They should need to be given time to develop their skills and meld into the team as back-up. It makes most sense to do this with Geno as starter other options are significantly worse and I do not want us ot tank 2025 for better 2026 picks.
  • Trade the farm for a star QB that will take enable us to go all the way, like Denver did for Russ and the Browns did for Watson. Great plan!

I do think we need to start taking some shots at QB in the draft(s) but, I don’t see us replacing Geno next year.

Maybe he signs a team friendly deal after that?

With our O-line being so horrid, it’s hard to really gauge exactly where Geno is at.

Don’t get me wrong…he’s caused me to lose my shit quite a bit this year but that may not be fair all considering.

John will extend Geno because Geno protects John from getting fired. As long as we are a 8-10 win team, John won't get fired.

Mediocrity baby

Yes Geno needs replaced! Is he our QB next year? Probably, unless we can get McCarthy somehow? Geno is ok between the 20's, he sucks in the red zone, he does not elevate this team to be a SB contender, time to stop fluttering @ .500 and take a swing on a QBOTF.

Doesn’t matter what the fans think or say. I highly doubt the Seahawks move on from Geno. Like it or not
I think it is 50/50 really because we do not know how the organization feels about how they move forward. If their plan is to seriously compete in 2026 they might be okay with letting a rookie take the reigns in 2025 even if it means a small step back.

But if the FO feels they can do more to push beyond what they did this year with Mac maybe they stick with Geno and continue to build the team before handing over the reigns to a young drafted QB.

The Seahawks are in great shape at the quarterback position.

Three under contract for 2025. Which grows to five under contract when counting the two wide receivers who can throw the ball as well as catch.

Which QBOTF? Where are you going to find this paragon? It's not worth saying "get rid of Geno" without a plan to replace him.

Several..yards...completion percentage..attempts...
He isn’t top 5 in yards I’ll give you conpletion % but attempts? We’re throwing that around as if it means anything? You guys are wild with this stuff. I think Sam Howell lead in attempts last year. Attempts=elite. So there are two attempts and completion %. You missed the two others interceptions and red zone interceptions.

There’s a draft and/or maybe there is another Darnold, Goff, Baker or Geno out there. Why do the pro Geno guys act like it’s impossible to find someone? Let’s see how the draft shakes out too. It’s way too early in the process.

Now it’s possible you just bring Geno back and punt it one more year too but we shall see. I can see bringing him back and shoring up the couple of weaknesses and semi go for it. I’m not paying him more though.

Sign Geno for three years and push to develop Howell, have Geno's contract incentive laden as well as Howells. Build the freakin line and depth on defense and another LB.

The problem is that you are either going to be going with a rookie, and there isn't anyone in this draft that is a great prospect where the Seahawks could get him, or you're grabbing a free agent reclamation project like you said.

Who is the next Darnold or Baker out there in free agency? Daniel Jones, maybe. You probably can't afford to pay Geno and Jones - would you be confident enough to out and out release Geno to sign Jones?

I'm not saying it's impossible. I'm saying that I don't see anyone out there that I'd expect to be able to replace Geno's production.

Have Geno play out his contract. Let Howell walk. Trade for Milton and develop him behind Geno for a year
