If you expected our QB to get hit less than 4 times - in the first half alone - you were being completely unrealistic.
This is somewhat hyperbolistic, (is that a word?). Nobody on this board expected our QB to get hit less than 4 times. And most of us knew that St Louis has a great DLine, 3 early 1st round picks on there? Yea, we knew that.
A lot of us already knew that Robert Quinn is one of the best DEs in the league. I would do whatver I could to sign this guy away from the Rams when his contract is due. The addition by subtraction hypothesis works very well in that circumstance.
But the free runners to the QB? I counted at least 5 times that Quinn or Long came relatively untouched and blew up our QB. There is no excuse for that. I was so livid about the lack of pass protection I had to medicate just so I could go to sleep last night. :cussing:
Like I said before, I don't mind ugly wins, they build character, but to only give Marshawn 8 runs and get our QB blown up? Ridiculous. And I don't want to hear the "8 men in the box excuse." When has that stopped us before? The alternative, getting our franchise QB hammered, wasn't any more successful was it?
Point 1: Rams DLine is vulnerable against the run (#23)
Point 2: Rams DLine is phenomenal against the pass and will take your QB down! (#12)
Point 2a: Rams have 25 sacks which has them tied at 5th place
Point 3: Seahawks OLine sucks against pass rush
Point 4: Seahawks OLine is decent in run blocking.
Put our best skills against their worst. It protects the QB, takes time off the clock and rests the Defense. But instead we had St Louis TOP 38:09!!! and Seattle TOP 21:51.
Pretty simple imaho.
