Are we sure Henderson is going to be a gunner? 6'1" 185lb seems light for a gunner. Dareke Young was 6'2" 224lb.
That pick is 100% a "let's give Jay Harbaugh someone to play with" pick.

Maybe he won't be a gunner but regardless it's a waste of a draft pick for someone who is going to be exclusively a Special Teamer, imo.

We need to end this crap where we credit every good pick of the past 16 years to Schneider and impute every bad pick to Pete. It's an embarrassing insult to our legendary coach who helped build an all-time roster. Schneider's record stands on its own well enough where we don't need to gratuitously rip on his former partner to prop him up. Not to mention that John has been open about having made mistakes and learning from them. The fact that he was able to adapt his style and build another Super Bowl team is more admirable in my mind than if he had never made a mistake in his life.

As for this draft, I'll give it a solid B. I wish they had targeted some pass rushers, but the players they got all seem to be at least good value and made sense. Certainly a commendable effort for only having four picks initially, which were all at or near the end of their rounds.

And grading a draft before they play is really no different than predicting season records in August. They're not meant to be final. It's weird how often some people need to be reminded of that.
Gotta admit though that the drafting seems way different than the crazy swing for the fences shots we were taking
Really seems like a totally different person running the show last few years
Just my 2 cents
Go Hawks

The last draft Pete was involved in, they drafted Spoon, JSN, Hall, and Charbs. Who was the crazy swing for the fence pick?

I'll give it a B but based on number of picks and where they were picking I don't know how they could have hit a home run in this one. Add in what most people think was a weak daft and they did the best they could.

To take a step back and get a full picture of this draft, you could say rounds 4 and 5 picks were instrumental pre-emptively in winning the Super Bowl last year. If you take that into account I could make the case for it being an A

They filled holes, with 2 starting caliber players, while replacing depth pieces with depth pieces. That's just good @$$ work by the FO and coaching staff. What more could you ask for.

Also, that dudes hot Mom is here.

“A” grade because they started with just four picks and somehow managed eight players, and did so while keeping and using their original picks in Rounds 1 and 2! And they still have Shaheed.

A round-by-round recap of how they pulled it off:

Round 1:
  • No trades.
  • Selected RB Jadarian Price at #32. Three picks remaining.
Round 2:
  • No trades.
  • Selected S Bud Clark at #64. Two picks remaining.
Round 3:
  • TRADED #96 (to Steelers) for #99 and #216. Three picks remaining.
  • Selected CB Julian Neal at #99. Two picks remaining.
Round 4:
  • No trades.
  • No selections.
Round 5:
  • TRADED a 2027 fourth round pick (to Browns) for #148. Three picks remaining.
  • Selected G Beau Stephens at #148. Two picks remaining.
Round 6:
  • TRADED #188 (to Jets) for #199 and #242. Three picks remaining.
  • Selected WR Emmanuel Henderson Jr. at #199. Two picks remaining.
  • TRADED #216 (to Packers) for #236 and #255. Three picks remaining.
Round 7:
  • No trades.
  • Selected CB Andre Fuller at #236. Two picks remaining.
  • Selected DT Deven Eastern at #242. One pick remaining.
  • Selected CB Michael Dansby at #255. All picks exhausted.

I'm going to say "Off the charts". Here's why... I'm sure it's a fairly obvious observation of similarities with the makeup of the DBs for example.
Comparisons I see (and not exact, but similarities):
Bud Clark - Earl Thomas
Julian Neal - Richard Sherman

Nick Emmanwori - A new type of Kam Chancellor.

This draft is really good because of what it means for taking this franchise to even another level. Evaluating the draft at face value doesn't do it justice. Maybe not the best Seahawks draft ever. But, it serves a grander purpose which is pretty exciting.

If Clark can stay healthy (apparently he's missed some significant time), lookout.

The legacy of this franchise is moving in the right direction. All the former players hanging around and contributing to seeing this franchise achieve ongoing greatness does this longtime fans' heart good.
