POLL: Do You Trust Sam?

I don’t trust Sam when the lights are brightest

  • Agree. He makes me nervous and has shown he can’t play his best in the biggest games

  • Disagree. Three games shouldn’t define what he will do in the future.

Yes.
And is it just me, or does it seem like if we just get the running game going, most of these problems go away?
Yep, when you get too pass happy? you're asking the Quarterback to put the ball in harm's way = turnovers.
Turnovers happen to even the best Quarterbacks who get carried away with airing it out, even the great Brett Favre would have benefitted from having a running game to help him out.

This is predictably the national narrative today for obvious reasons. Sam crumbles in big time games. Agree?
What I don't understand as how you continue to throw INTs after you hit 2. At that point you have to tell yourself not to just throw it up there unless someone is open. If he thinks those throws were to someone open then we are in trouble. The Rams have our number and Darnold since last year. I say the next time we play the Rams start Lock and let Darnold watch. Maybe bringing him in later will help ease him into a big game so he doesn't feel all the pressure is on him. Yes, it's unconventional but that is me.

I could be wrong, but I would think that timing and trust might take more than a couple weeks, especially in a critical and tight game.

Shaheed is a piece, not an answer. I wish they would have upgraded Anthony “Wiffs” Bradford, but I don’t write the checks.

I agree that he's a piece, but some were claiming if the Hawks won the Super Bowl, that trade would be the reason why. Lol

I will tell all you people a story. About myself. It relates to trusting Sam Darnold, trust me. So, I'm a US Navy civilian Nuclear Engineer. I've been doing this for a great long time, in one way or another. I'm very good at what I do, and I regularly get called by Back East to troubleshoot and repair shit they cant. Even though they designed it. Then, I got too full of myself sometime in the last year and made a big mistake in regards to what I should have done vs what I did. Similar to 4 ints for Sam... I was kicking myself back and forth, asking myself WTF was I thinking. Was I too old? Have I lost it? My Lead Engineer on the project kept telling me "C'mon, I need you to get it together! I need you to get you confidence back!" Just like the rest of the team has Sam Darnold's back in order to make sure he doesn't lose his confidence. I came back, and he will too.

I don't think I agree. How many QBs have a good game when they're pressured 27 times during their first playoff appearance? I bet not many.

All he has to do in games like last week's is take a sack or dirt the ball. I think he can do that. He presses when he doesn't need to.

I find it interesting that Daniel Jones has had a bit of a melt down in the same span as Sam. The parallels are pretty cool.

Considering Horton has a Paul Richardson itch right now, doesn’t this team look better with Sheheed on the team?

Does it get you off to be a hater? Sam had other big games did just fine - see smoking us last year on SNF. He will have more and he’ll do just fine. Might have another crumbler, but shit happens.

After this Titans' game, I REALLY don't trust Sam.

I saw 3 'should have been picks' that any team with more than 2 wins catches at least 2 on. One was a sure pick 6.
Sam had a near-horrorific game but for the other team not bothering to catch obvious gifts.

He really needs to redeem himself against the Rams, and even if he does - not sure I trust him not to keep doing this.

He had 3 throws that were Turnover-worthy in this game but only ONE of them should be tossed at Darnold's feet as a bad decision/pass.

That one would be the pass to K9 on the flat where his defender was all over him and actually stepped in front and should've picked the ball off. Not sure if K9 prevented that by playing defense there or not but very fortunate. (That was a big YIKES for my part)

Now that said, the two other passes that you're probably referring to are the AJ Barner TD pass attempt and the Deep Pass that was interrupted by Jeffrey Simmons.

And neither of those passes were truly Darnold's fault.

Barner should've caught that TD pass. It hit his hands, chest, then richochet'd off of his right shoulder-pad up in the air.

That's on him.

The other was was Simmons making a play. Guess what? The opposing D gets paid, too, no matter what their record is.

He hit Sam as he was releasing the ball which turned into a dying duck in the air. Good thing that their safety did his best Riq Woolen imitation there.

I get why you won't trust Sam but I think that if he does beat the Rams in Week 16, it at least will be a very positive sign as it would show that he had got over the mental block they have on him (which bodes well if the Hawks meet the Rams in the playoffs).

Sam’s talent has never been the question it’s the big moments that have tripped him up. But this is the best coaching, best structure, and best roster he’s ever had. If he’s going to get over that big game hurdle, this is the team that can take him there.

Dwindling fast. He just makes head scratching mistakes every game now. He's very fortunate he didn't leave Tennessee with two more pics to add to his total..

As long as we win I think I can live by the sword/die by the sword with Sam.
