POLL: Do You Trust Sam?

I don’t trust Sam when the lights are brightest

  • Agree. He makes me nervous and has shown he can’t play his best in the biggest games

  • Disagree. Three games shouldn’t define what he will do in the future.

Agreed. Paraphrasing a fellow .netter here but, he said something to the effect of ‘it is what it is, until it’s not’.

Simple statement but, that’s the truth.

Now, I don’t feel like it’s something he can’t overcome. We’ve seen what he can do.

But, until he proves otherwise in ‘big’ games, it is what it is.

So far, it's hard to argue the narrative. He certainly didn't help his cause yesterday.

I am going to stomach watching the game in its entirety today. I am curious what my impression will be.

I've seen the (low)lights of his picks. Some were, "Okay, shit happens" and some were "WTF?"

For sure, its gonna be "what it is" until he does something different.
Even then though, I think its gonna be something that will be a talking about him (Right or Wrong) for the rest of his careeer

I think he will constantly get you lots of wins and in the play offs every year. The big question is the big games/play offs. I think it will come. I'd throw everything at a sports psychologist for this though.

He's 0-for-3 in big games:

Lions when #1 seed was on the line.
Rams playoff game.
Rams when division lead is on the line.

I thought this season would be different because the Vikings OL was not good.

Kubiak needs to do more to help him though. Why all the pure drop backs when he excels in play action?

Kind of a selectively narrow use of the term big games….

Could argue our game against Pittsburgh was a big game

Could argue any of his divisional games vs Green Bay last year were big games for him

Can’t argue he’s played terrible at some inopportune times, but he’s going to definitely have some “big games” upcoming and then we’ll have a better idea

My worry is he has some mental blocks in the big games you just can’t teach out of him. For whatever reason.

Big games as in to beat your divisional opponent to take the lead in the division. Big games like playoffs.

Pittsburgh was a good win but in my personal vernacular, does not count as a “big game”.

Agreed.

People said the same thing about some pretty famous QBs.

3 games is not a trend. Its three focking games FFS. They are big games because they are against the best. You don't win them all and at best win half of them. he HAS to clean up the turnovers, he knows that. let it play out.

I voted agree, Because after lastnight the Rams are in Darnold's head now, and this could become a huge problem moving foward in the future... I'll admit, I still have trust in him, but he needs to earn it back fully...

I'm not as worried as many others. Last year he finished with a couple of bad games and one of them was entirely the offensive line being absolutely terrible and I think every guy in the league struggles. The other game was more on him just playing well. Yesterday he was bad too. I don't fault others for being worried but I think its a small sample size and he will be fine. He's going to play much better in a rematch.

You can see how someone with an agenda could twist the definition to fit their narrative

He swept Green Bay last year in what were probably big games at the time

Let’s let it play out

Thats like saying the Eagles suck because we beat them regularly for some reason. The Rams know how to either get to him and rattle him, two of his worst games against them back to back. We just need to see what they see and make corrections.
