Losing Obi sucks the big one. Watch them go QB here now.

You know who else who had a subpar college career but became a great defensive player.....Michael Bennett. Guess how many sacks did he get in his senior year in college........zero, and the year before that 1 sack. In 4 years in college Michael Bennett made 6.5 total sacks. McDowell made 7.5 total sacks in 3 years. Do we look at stats or do we look at the player and see the potential that we can mold them into something. So far what I've seen in the last two picks is that both player, McDowell and Pocic is that they are able to play in every position on their line.

To the whining about this pick i get a good laugh out of it this guy will make our dline so dominate by freeing up Bennett, Clark and hopefully Dion Jordan i am so excited. Go Hawks

The D-line has never fully recovered from the loss of Red Bryant and Brandon Mebane . Great pick.

He's a lot more Michael Bennett than Bryant or Mebane.

It wasn't a comparison a was a statement of D-line depletion without adequate replacement. Glad they addressed it this draft.

That was an absolutely FANTASTIC scouting report breakdown on McDowell. Thanks for sharing that. Consider that an absolute MUST WATCH for Seahawks fans.

I honestly didn't know a whole heck of a lot about him honestly, as DT wasn't a position that I was focused on whatsoever coming into the draft. Like a lot of people, I've been far more focused on Offensive Linemen and DB's. When the pick was made tonight, I really questioned it, as I didn't understand what in the heck the Hawks were doing. Now that I've seen this -- I can honestly say that I get what Pete and John were looking at -- and get why they took him. I can honestly say that I'm fairly excited by the potential. What amazing athleticism and overall physical talent! What a specimen! It looks like he has the chance (if things break right for him) to be the most physically dominant DT we've had since Cortez Kennedy. I can see by the tape why it looks like he had effort issues, and I would just say that he is coming to the perfect environment to help unlock that potential. Obviously we'll see how things shake out when he actually gets on the field, but consider me to be rather optimistic after seeing this. I'm excited to see him and how he looks in Preseason.

This pick is no surprise and if some of you took the time to checkout Staton's blog you would know that. Seattle targeted McDowell.

Correct though you would have to read the comments, Rob wasnt high on MM himself because of percieved attitude issues. Me and others on the blog have been SCREAMING DT interior pressure for months. A monster on the Dline instead of MArsh puts at at a championship level.

I follow Rob's blog when I get the chance to do so. It's just as a teacher, my time is often fairly limited, so it's usually pretty hit and miss. I usually do OK when it comes to scouting picks at apparent areas of need leading up to the draft. Consider this one that I overlooked. DL was just an area I wasn't focusing on much (I've been much more focused on OL and DB's).
McDowell appears to be one heck of a prospect and I for one and excited to see what he looks like (and the rest of the projected starting DL looks like) when they finally get on the field.
