So they put Darnold at 26th.

And as if that isn't stupid enough, they take it even further :

Geno at 10?!?! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Kyler Murray at 15?!?! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

McCarthy (who never took a single regular season snap) at 21?!?! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Cam Ward (same as McCarthy) at 25, one ranking above Sam? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

My god...the disrespect is just absurd.

I know this, Kyler Murray isn't very good and Geno Smith seems too high to me. Darnold has been mostly bad except for last year. I'm hoping he can keep up his improved play but it's far from guaranteed.

At the same time, putting him so low after having the season he had is total bullsh*t.

It doesn't matter how he did on Joke teams like the Jets.

It's all about what he did recently and "recently" was 2024 so PFF should've rated him accordingly.

That PFF didn't and had him behind 2 rookies (basically), Murray, and Geno shows how utterly stupid this is.

From changing the requirements in the category of comeback player of the year to same qb who only changed teams and a 14 win qb who did the same yet ratings and attitudes apparently for said area are seemingly the only constant , wow, just woof
I guess we are south alaska , just surprised the writers could even objectively look and think , yup , that's gonna fly
Pathetic
Give em hell Sam
Go Hawks

The text they wrote is correct. Was Darnold uniquely suited to the Vikings and he will revert to the player he was for the Panthers and Jets is a legitimate question. It is quite possible that Darnold does revert to his 2018-23 errors in which case a rank of 26th might be right but that is his floor. If we see 2024 Darnold he will be ranked about 12.

On one side we see fan excitement that we are actually gointg to compete this year. On the other you see Veges predicting 7.5 wins (an staying there so the betting public think they got it right) and articles like this. I think the truth is somewhere between the two, we could be going something like 13-4 if the offence really fires but we could also be looking at a 7-10. I think mostl likely it is something inbetween, Darnold is a middle of the road QB, we might squeek into the play-offs but have little chance of progressing if we do.

Sam Darnold 27, 2024 Vikings
yds - TD -INT - rating
4319 35 12 102.5

Geno Smith 34, 2024 Seahawks
yds - TD-INT - rating
4320 21 15. 93.2

For what it's worth.

So that, if anything, shows that both he and Darnold belong in the same tier and not 10 for friggin' Geno or 26 for Darnold.

I guess optimism does not really exist around here for some.....

Welp. If that is the conclusion of what will happen, then there is no point in watching the 2025 Seahawks season then, right? 200

Look, I'm not demanding that anyone here be all "Roses and Chocolates" about this coming season but I just find it interesting how some have such a pessimistic outlook of the team's chances.

This season isn't going to be solely about how Darnold performs, though....

It's going to be about Kubiak's offense and how things shake out there with Kupp/JSN and everyone else.

With the defense being what it is, all it will take is an efficient offense and this team can potentially win 12-13 games.

You're assuming that Sam has to be what he was in Minnesota for that to happen but if the Running Game is rolling, he won't have to and that's what you're neglecting (in your assessment).

No one knows what will happen and that is why I enjoy watching sports.

This time last year a lot of people on this forum were really excited about a Grubb led Seahawks offence.

I can understand Geno being where he is, at least can make an argument for it. Darnold is too low. I like Darnold more than Geno but I would have him lower than Geno but not by much.

PFF is a complete joke though.

I guess. Geno had a couple good seasons, Darnold had a better season last year. Had a lot to work with, yes, but his TD to interception numbers blew Geno out of the water. Feels more lateral, but I guess I can see why Geno would be a little higher. Maybe.
Then again, we live in a time where Geno fricken Smith is an overrated QB. Twilight Zone

Just based on last year's stats it would show Darnold is a tier or three above Geno.

Total yards is very dependent on how often you throw which is depends much more on the style of the OC and how good the defence are at getting the ball back than the quality of the QB. Yds per attempt is a better metric (Darnold 7.9, Geno 7.5)

Passer rating is the measure of passing ability as a composite of the other stats. There is a big difference between 102.5 and 93.2. Of regular starters Darnold was ranked 6th in passer rating last year and Geno 19th. Less yards per attempt, more Ints and less TDs all lead to a lower rating.

1 year Passer rating isn't everything however, I doubt many would rank Mahomes at 16th best QB. Previous years has some weight (when Darnold was awful) but passing stats depend not only on the QB but also the receivng corps, the O-line, the effectiveness of the running game and the OC. If a perfect pass bounces off the WRs hands and straight to the cornerback you can't blame the QB but it goes against their stats. WAR attempts to take into account these factor, I haven't seen Geno's and Darnold's WAR but these advanced stats are even more subjective than passer rating in how they are calculated.
