Yea I’m aware of the trend.

My issue is that I believe one should be willing /able to discuss/ defend takes that go afar from what most would consider legitimate or reasonable.

I wouldn't want him as a starter at $10M. I know he can play but defense relies on teamwork first and Woolen is an individual first. He can make great individual plays but he undermines the team ethos. It's not a trade-off i'd want to make on a contending team - at that price. I'd consider him as a back-up at a much lower price, but obviously there's no reason for him to consider such an option. A fresh start is good for both him and the Seahawks.

MM’s defense is a machine that requires fluidity, intelligence, and selfless play. There was one player who, multiple times last season, didn’t fit that. A player can be athletic and talented and be a terrible fit in terms of attitude and scheme. He may do well in Philly but he was always going to stand out in this defense for all the wrong reasons. We won the SB because the team was built of believers. I don’t think Reek ever truly bought in.

He is easy to play, Sheed and JSN can talk trash and he will be taken out of the game mentally after the first few snaps and then come the penalties, then then the touchdowns.

Woolen’s biggest problem was his brain. He is seriously lacking football intelligence. Tons of physical talent to be a freak but no brain to support it. I knew he was lacking when I heard him talk in his first recorded interview as a rookie. NO it wasn’t his accent, it was his vernacular.
Marshawn wasn’t the best talker either but his intelligence came through his heavy accent and while many people didn’t get what he was saying, I did. Marshawn is a smart man.
I guarantee Marshawn would have never named himself Riq, knowing that the meaning of word REEK is just stupid even though he spells it different.
Sherman came from a questionable neighborhood also but he was a very intelligent speaker and his football IQ was out of the park.
Spoon also is very football smart, which is why he’s so damned good with his talent.

This is what I expect. I’ve read that Philly is happy with him thus far.

He has the talent. But, when/if he gets that multi-year contract, I’d expect shenanigans again.

But, surely his agent, family, advisors, etc…have talked to him about how he needs to move forward. He has Pro-Bowl level talent…

Signing a one-year prove it deal after having the careers he’s had surely has to kick in some type of reality on his end.

But…there’s a chance it won’t. I’ll tell you this. I wouldn’t bet my house on him turning it around. Just saying I’d be slightly surprised if he is still up to his shenanigans in Philly.

With CB contracts these days, he potentially left $85M+ on the table (assuming a four year + deal) because he wants to showboat, taunt, essentially…act like a little kid.

If he performs up to what he’s capable of, Philly will have one of the best db corps in the league.

Personally, I hope he does well...grows up a little. But I just don't see it.

The biggest hurdles I anticipate is that the league knows him now. We saw very clearly with DK, once a player shows he can be manipulated, it just gets worse. DK had stretches where he was great, very cool-headed. However, players that knew him also knew the buttons to push that would result, at times, in him losing his cool.

Likewise, Riq can be great 95% of the time but he's shown that he can be baited and manipulated. It'll be increasingly difficult because that will be a conscious focus of every opponent. He'll be required to be more focused, more disciplined, forget the last play even more-so. That's a lot to ask. ...and whether he is able to stay focused or blows it, that will just increase. It'll become a personal goal of the O to get Riq to lose his cool every week. He'll never get a break and he'll never get the benefit of the doubt on ref calls either. There are millions on the line. Ws and Ls, friendships, careers... and there will be 11 players taking as many verbal shots every down as they can think of. ...and the sideline. ...and the press. ...and the opponents press .... and plenty of cheap shots and bad calls too. I just think that's too brutal a situation for a relatively young player to be able to overcome. ...but I do hope I'm wrong.
