IMO....Kam will not return to the Hawks mentally ready to play....not to mention his likely physical limitations.

This is an insanely difficult situation.

I admittedly got emotional yesterday and let it be known that I don't want Kam on this team. Some of that is because I think the damage is too much at this point. He walked away from his team, his coaches, the front office, and the owner who made him a rich man in the first place. To a lesser extent, he walked away from the fans that have loved and supported him.

The fan thing... People need to realize that Kam doesn't care. He doesn't care how the butts in the seats feel. Unless you're backing his play, you're deemed beneath him.

Yesterday, to me at least, proved that this team needs him in the worst way. I mean they're out there trying to bring in Taylor Mays. Bailey isn't the answer, at least this season, and has been thrust into an impossible situation.

The team needs him. Not having him could be the difference between securing HFA or not. I do believe we win the game yesterday if he's out there. The Rams were able to exploit parts of the field that they wouldn't have dared to if 31 was roaming the secondary.

Yesterday was the worst thing that could happen from a leverage standpoint for the Seahawks. Kam knows this.

Meeting his demands is equally as dangerous. For the people who say "Pay him," or "Let him sit," are losing traction. It's just not that simple.

This sucks.

Kam will likely get dealt as a result of all of this.

I think the Seahawks need to start going after the fines and the prorated signing bonus money. They literally hold every card when it comes to him playing in the NFL or not over the next three seasons. I go back and forth on this, but if this organization truly intends to send a message over situations like this they have to go after that money. I don't run a franchise of course, and that's a good thing, but if they're truly dug in, this is the next logical step. It'll sever things for sure, but then you just hope and pray that yesterday was simply a bad day and things get better in a hurry.

Again - this is such an insanely difficult situation to be in. But I think the Seahawks need to take that next step and apply more pressure.

Nice Write up I agree with you all the way I am still very Excited about the game In green Bay , but also very realistic that without Kam we are the big underdogs , it would really prove me wrong if we go into GB and win , the I would be on the fence more of letting Kam sit out .

Don't take my word for it, bro. I'm bipolar about Kam right now. The thought of this defense without him is a scary picture, I'm afraid. From one minute to the next I change my mind. But I do think going after the money is the next step if the team is truly serious about being at their end.

I keep coming back to one question in my mind: Why is Kam so scared the team are going to cut him in the future?

How am I supposed to believe that you want to make more money when you are making choices that you know will automatically earn you less money?

That's what I'd ask Kam if I worked for the FO.

Agreed. Maybe the offseason surgery didn't fully take, and this was his agent's advice.

Because of the way he plays and his track record for getting hurt.............which the team knew going into his contract negotiations two years ago. Thus probably why they didn't want any guaranteed money at the end of his deal. Which is why he got a ton of guaranteed and bonus money in the first two years.

But IMO none of this matters, he's got three years left, no leverage and just lost 2M for sitting out camp and the first game. So what's Kam trying to prove here? If his intent is to make more money, he's going backwards.

He is looking at guys like Red Bryant and Clemons, Lawyer Milloy, he knows when the big hit on his salary happens they look at you harder and will cut you. He has had a few injuries, he is trying to get his money moved forward while he is needed versus when he is a possible liability and they have a replacement that can actually fill his roll on the team.

Thats my impression of his business side of things, he is gambling on what he has now and not as a 29 year old or so.

I don't even give a crap if Kam cares about his fans or not anymore. I just want him to care about his team and care about his brothers. How can any of this be worth 900K?! I just don't get it.

Time to bring back that sad violin solo. :(

thought I had today. If the Hawks were going to mortgage the future of the org by giving into Kam to win now. They would have done it already before the first game of the season. 1 loss is all it takes to lose HFA and for the Hawks that's kind of what gets you to the SB. Could you imagine if they brought Kam back in now and the Hawks went 11-5, one win away from HFA and lost the NFCCG in a close one on the road. People would go ballistic over this week 1 game.

Bottomline it's too late for the Hawks to give in and Kam (and/or his agent) should realize this.

I get both sides and he probably is a little underpaid, but he and his agent agreed to that contract not that long ago. It's a case of him getting jealous and his agent getting greedy.

NFL players sort of get screwed compared to the other major three sports, but that's on the union. Kam still makes more in a year than most on here will make in 30...cry me a river dude..

You're nuts. :)

I see where you are coming from, but that specific of a reality is not the worry of the Seahawks FO.
