These first two games were potential losses even with Kam on the field.

The FO is holding the course and I don't blame them.

At least Hutch did it the contractual route via poison pill. This nonsense, if continued, will make Kam one of the most loathed former Seahawks ever.

This is getting beyond ridiculous.

The Seahawks stepped up and rewarded Kam with the contract he has. The man signed it. He knows how the NFL works. He took a swing at getting some improvements made to the contract and by all accounts, it seems that he turned his nose up; not good enough.

I wouldn't trade him at any point in time. That creates its own problems with regard to setting a precedent.

If he doesn't want to play football any more, so be it. He can sit at home for the next three years or however it works out. Sad but that's the way I would play it.

I have a good family friend whose son played safety in college (for a top 25 team).

He was known for hits as a safety that were hard. In fact, he played the position so physically that his team later moved him to linebacker for that last year.

I think he played the entire last 2 years hurt. In the college game, I have seen the impact playing has on these kids. And the impact is even greater in the NFL. There was a thing circulating on social media not that long ago where a woman was at Home Depot buying a frig and Kam + another player helped her load it into her truck.

Notable from that picture was that Kam was in a cast, but there was no injury report showing him injured. Because OF COURSE he was injured. Because Football. It is a game where success is judged by the ability to inflict pain or to tolerate it. That is Kam's signature, laying out Vernon Davis near that sideline. He inflicts pain, the Deathbacker - right?

Football players are trained to deal with pain/injury and play through it. But pain is your body's way of telling you that something is not right.

So those people that are just screaming that Kam "signed a contract and should honor it! (!!!)" are happy to demand it when it is someone else's health. Kam has to make the decision that is best for him.

I have another associate that runs his own company in biotech but also volunteers some of his time/insight helping former NFL players with the impact all those years of collisions have put on their bodies (namely cognitive functions). There are a lot of NFL players that I am sure some of you cheered for that he has helped and you would be floored by the amount that are now on public assistance.

Train 10+ years for a position, get 5-6 years of playing time out of it, and then find out that few if any positions in the "real world" consider that work applicable experience to them. Maybe you can get a job in the media, if you are 1 in hundreds, or maybe at an investment bank if you find that clients want to meet with their former idols. Not much else.

The point is that there is a cost to this work, and it might be a cost that Kam is realizing he is going to need more compensation to justify. I can understand that. If he walks, I do not understand how you cannot still be tremendously grateful to have seen one of the best safeties in the NFL ever, take us to 2 straight SBs - instrumental in winning us one.

He would be the most hated ever just because he made it harder to get to 3? Or because he is "greedy" in realizing the compensation he is getting is not going to be worth the wear/tear he is putting on his future?

Maybe if he just played but refused to do any of the physical stuff that was what made him great but also what is taking a tremendous toll on his body. Would you support him if he came back and just played a bit below the average SS instead?

Cary Williams makes $4.6M this year, all of which is guaranteed. If he's released next year the team is on the hook for 2.2M .. whoop dee doo.

Or, you could think that he's damned lucky to make THAT much money. $7 million a year to play football. Most people will never make that much in their entire LIVES that he will make in just one year. Give working families a raise Paul Allen. Give his salary to your lowest earners as a bonus to the people who deserve more than they're getting paid to raise families.

1. THEY DID PAY KAM. TWO YEARS AGO.
2. The fact this team even was OPEN to moving some salary up is incredible in itself. He's lucky they were even willing to concede that.
3. The last point, which is hilarious and beyond a stretch, isn't even applicable because this money is only spent on a football roster. It's not going back into Paul Allen's Wells Fargo account. It's going back to the teams salary cap.

Maybe the Hawks are thinking about re-doing Bennett's deal now as a big F U to Kam, since Bennett still showed up and worked his ass off despite being unhappy with his contract. If the team goes that route I'd say its a done deal that Kam never wears a Seahawks helmet again.

Well fella's its another deadline day for Kam. He will cross over 2 million in fine's and game checks if he doesn't show up to practice today. That's nuts when Kam claims they were only 900k apart.

Kam seems content to hold out, at least until week 10 when he has to report to get his contract year counted.

I'm hoping it's sooner, but it sure doesn't look that way.

I think his scumbag agent is telling him to hold out this week to see if Rogers picks us apart so his leverage is at its peak. If he does not report next week (with a new deal or not) he definitely won't report until week 10. And then I will worry about his mental state.

I honestly don't think Kam not playing is leverage.

From the way Pete's talking they're moving on as if Kam was injured, so again I don't think us losing matters. It's sad because Kam is costing not only his teammates their finite window of opportunity to win SB's, but as Ray Lewis pointed out he's affecting his legacy.

Maybe Kam doesn't care, but if he holds out the next year or two, his legacy as one of the greatest safeties of all time is diminishing with each missed game.

After seeing how bad our LB's tackled last week against a inferior Rams running game I see a monster game for Lacy this week with still no Kam in the line-up. Hawks about to lose by more then 10 for the first time in 4 years. 12's will be on full meltdown next week calling for PC's head. Book it.

Rams rushed for 76 yards on 26 carries for a whopping 2.9 yards per rush.

BTW, sometimes teams have off games and/or improve from week to week.

Kam is tradable but they haven't received what they feel is fair compensation. Dion Bailey must have the confidence of the coaching staff since they haven't brought any positions in for a tryout that were ss's.

You left out the part where Kam made 4M and got his signing bonus in 2013 while Sherman only made 550K and Earl only made 2M........and Kam made over 6M in 2014 while Sherman only made 3.7M.

Yes NOW Earl and Sherm make more than Kam because they both has escalating contracts.........but Kam's contract also escalates, just not as much guaranteed money and roster bonus.

If the players just want to put blinders on and complain about who's making how much NOW? Then let's do away with long term contracts and everyone just play on one year deals for base salary. Then every off season we'll reshuffle the deck depending on performance.

Kam GOT his money, and if he plays well he'll continue to get paid very well.........and if he stays healthy he'll get another monster contract. So nope, he doesn't DESERVE anything.......and even if he thinks he does, he signed his deal and has no leverage. So tough S#$@!.

Kam could have passed on the deal and gambled on himself, knowing that he was going to become such a valuable player. But...what if he got hurt? He could have got cut on his rookie deal. Game over. So he played it safe, took the money first.

Had he waited, he could have received better money from the Seahawks or someone else...but he cashed in.

I don't find any 'perspective' there.

True points: Contracts get ripped up all the time, and he is worth it.


False points/red herrings:

He used to play QB before the NFL. Why is this even relevant? it is only a stretch into the point on injuries.

Injuries: Yes, they happen. Yes they are bad. Yes, they shorten careers. That is why Kam got $17M in guaranteed money.

He is worth it: I also mention this above as true, but only in pure money perspective. He IS worth the money, he is not worth disrupting the team negotiations and positions with every other player moving forward. No one player is worth that, no matter who they are.

This should have been a holdout to establish seriousness, then a return to play, with a re-worked contract after 2015.

Lost games is not acceptable, Kam lost me there.

To be clear, a lack of Kam did not lose us the game on Sunday. A lack of control of the line on both sides of the ball did.
