I don't buy the notion that making similar concessions for Kam as we did with Beast would slam any windows shut. I still think a compromise can be reached and I still think that'd be the best thing for the team. I think Kam is the same sort of impact player Marshawn is and the precedent has already been set for that level of talent.
Kam is basically trying to extort the team into making it easy for him to extort the team again in a couple years.

You are comparing the Marshawn situation with the Kam situation, and drawing the parallel because they are both impact players, but I think you are way off in your assessment (not about them both being impact players, but in how the situations are parallel). Marshawn was contemplating retiring. As in, not playing football again. For anybody. Ever again. That is what's known as a credible threat. That is unparalleled leverage.

Kam isn't walking away from the game. Kam wants to play football, and consequently does not have anything like the leverage Marshawn had.

I Hope! RT @thebrianrossman: @Me just spotted Bennett & Rosenhaus at dinner in Bellevue...wonder if game planning in the event Kam gets deal

Odd timing for MB's agent to be in Seattle. Or is it?

Imagine if he was advising Bennett to hold out as well, basically telling the Seahawks to lose this year or pay the two. Just kidding, but would be an interesting turn of events.

Sherman is guaranteed $40 million. ET $25 million. Wagner $22 million. Avril and Bennett are each getting $16 million. In fact, Jimmy Who? is getting paid $20 million even though he would disappear in games against us because of Kam Chancellor, a man he once ran away from as a Saint.

But the heart and soul of this defense. The BOOOM! He's guaranteed $7.8 million dollars. Hell, even Cary Williams makes $7.

So it's not like Kam isn't getting totally ripped off or anything. Disrespected at the least. I mean, that is ridiculous. Shame on the Seahawks for not rewarding Kam Chancellor, the heart and soul of this team, for his role in taking us to back to back Super Bowls.

Pay Kam.

Or, you could think that he's damned lucky to make THAT much money. $7 million a year to play football. Most people will never make that much in their entire LIVES that he will make in just one year. Give working families a raise Paul Allen. Give his salary to your lowest earners as a bonus to the people who deserve more than they're getting paid to raise families.

His agent negotiated this deal... agents are supposed to be smart and knowledgeable.
His agent has allegedly had quasi-legal issues relating to player money.
I blame the agent.

Wasnt his contract 35 mil with 17 guaranteed? You read different stories but I think it was 17.
They made him a priority and the first to get his reward for what he has done.

Get all his "band of brothers" in a room and see if they are willing to redo their contracts to help the situation, especially since everyone is claiming that they cant play the game without him.

You left out the part where Kam made 4M and got his signing bonus in 2013 while Sherman only made 550K and Earl only made 2M........and Kam made over 6M in 2014 while Sherman only made 3.7M.

Yes NOW Earl and Sherm make more than Kam because they both has escalating contracts.........but Kam's contract also escalates, just not as much guaranteed money and roster bonus.

If the players just want to put blinders on and complain about who's making how much NOW? Then let's do away with long term contracts and everyone just play on one year deals for base salary. Then every off season we'll reshuffle the deck depending on performance.

Kam GOT his money, and if he plays well he'll continue to get paid very well.........and if he stays healthy he'll get another monster contract. So nope, he doesn't DESERVE anything.......and even if he thinks he does, he signed his deal and has no leverage. So tough S#$@!.

Well fella's its another deadline day for Kam. He will cross over 2 million in fine's and game checks if he doesn't show up to practice today. That's nuts when Kam claims they were only 900k apart.

Kam seems content to hold out, at least until week 10 when he has to report to get his contract year counted.

I'm hoping it's sooner, but it sure doesn't look that way.

I'm not sure about that amount.

I did some research when he announced his holdout.

The max a player can get fined is his prorated signing bonus for the year... and for Kam that is $1.0M.

And starting last week, he's losing his weekly game checks at $267k and change... so right now his fine is $1M and he has lost one game check.

And of course, collection of the fines is at club option.

When Kam signed his deal, there wasn't all these other big escalating deals in place which show there will be a cap squeeze in the coming years. Kam is right to be concerned about that now, when he had no idea about it this problem when he signed his deal. There is a real possibility his contract won't be completely honored by the team.

Then he should have asked for more guaranteed money on a shorter deal.

But he didn't, he took the longer deal..........which means he has to wait another year or two before having the leverage to re-negotiate.

Player's know how the game is played, Agents know how the game is played. So what Kam is attempting to do is change the entire precedent, and no way in hell the Hawk's are going to open that Pandora's Box, for themselves, or for the league.

I think his scumbag agent is telling him to hold out this week to see if Rogers picks us apart so his leverage is at its peak. If he does not report next week (with a new deal or not) he definitely won't report until week 10. And then I will worry about his mental state.

The loss didn’t change things, so holdout continues for #Seahawks S Kam Chancellor. He’s not in Seattle, ‘Hawks will play without him again

I am not sure. Typically, when a player says they "I leave those matters to my agent", that is code for, "I am the bad guy, but I am going to throw my agent under the bus so I don't look like a greedy _ _ _ _ [insert word that rhymes with a type of bird]". So in this case, it is probably all about Kam. Business is business, sadly. And the NFL is a big business that sometimes, has to acknowledge fans....sometimes....

I mean, just read the guys twitter. How could you suggest this is his agent?

So if I understand you correctly, Kam's agent failed to forecast the future correctly, so the FO should help him out. That about it? Okay, I failed to forecast the future myself in the stock market. Where do I go to line up at the FO?

What? What part of the contract will not be honored? How will the FO get away with it? And if you're talking about "the team can always cut a player but the player can't cut the team" that's baloney. A player can retire anytime he wants (a la Lynch).

After seeing how bad our LB's tackled last week against a inferior Rams running game I see a monster game for Lacy this week with still no Kam in the line-up. Hawks about to lose by more then 10 for the first time in 4 years. 12's will be on full meltdown next week calling for PC's head. Book it.
