A very nice film study on how Seattle's offense dominated San Francisco in the run game

Run play 1: Watch Sundell get to the 2nd level like he was shot out of a cannon. This athletic ability is why he continues to start. Also, the first of many great blocks from our man Saubert on the edge, sealing his man to the outside.

Run play 2: Darnold reads the defense and changes the play, creating a +1 blocking scenario on what appears to be a stacked box. He had a couple of these calls during the game, all which appeared to be successful.

Run play 3: This is the Shaheed sweep to the right side of the line which went for a huge gain. Watch the offensive line on this one to see why this worked so well. The right side of the line pulls to the left, setting this up to look like a counter play with newly called up Velus Jones, who sells the run play perfectly. At the same time, Cross, Zabel, and Sundell pull and leak out to the right while Shaheed comes flying by at full speed to take the pitch on the sweep. Amazing timing on this entire play, which puts San Francisco way out of position and leaves 3+ blockers in front of Shaheed to clean up on defensive backs. If Sigle doesn't come back to make a really good tackle, Shaheed may have broken this for a TD. Also...here's another example of how important Saubert is to the run game...the dude sells like he's going to block for the initial counter, slams on the brakes and reverses direction, and is able to join the convoy of blocker ahead of Shaheed. I know the trick plays have not worked in our favor overall this year...but this was a perfect call and execution on this particular play. Additional additional...Kupp reroutes a DE just enough to get him out of the picture as well. Just can't say enough good things about this play execution.

Run play 4: Our TE team comes through again. Barner shoots out to the second level and blocks one 49er while getting in the way of a 2nd defender. Saubert comes in motion and stonewalls the outside DE, creating a massive hole for Walker. Cross also does a great job of rerouting his man across the line, away from the play.

Run play 5: Walker scores on a cutback run set up by great blocking once again. The entire offensive line flows to the right and San Francisco overcommits because they've been gashed on too many previous run plays. The film team gives Bradford a shoutout for handling the defender that tries to knife in to his right initially and then pushes across his face to his left; Bradford keeps his footing and holds his ground which allows Walker the time to wait on the cutback while San Francisco defenders overcommit. Walker takes care of the rest by shrugging off a weak tackle attempt by Sigle on his way to the end zone. Note: JSN didn't really block anyone and it really didn't look like a pass play...but the corner covering him still followed him on a type of trail coverage, likely to defend against any play action attempts. So even though he may not physically block guys like Kupp does...he still has positive effect on the run game as a whole by just being that big of a threat in the play-action game.

The rest of the run plays are a great look as well and worth the time, but you would just see similar comments to what I've already written above. If the line is able to move the Rams like they did to the 49ers in this video...I like our chances to represent the NFC in another Super Bowl.
