If it’s too complicated, maybe it’s not being communicated well enough to the players to all get on the same page.

Only our OC is in control of his employment, if Hawks' offense becomes more productive, even guys like oke toffee who has been calling for his dismissal will happily eat humble pie and cheer him on

I also feel when Seattle went on their losing streak and Mac was like we need to run the ball, is when the decline started.

The offense is missing alot of things. DK has been hurt and the deep ball has been lacking. JSN, has made the most of his opportunities and that’s a good thing but the explosive plays have decreased, noticeably.

The deep ball to DK and explosive plays from DK needs to return…and only then K9 will break off bigger and longer runs.

My take, anyways.

Geno really has taken a step back, it's not all on Grubb. He's double clutching on the ball and second guessing himself right now. I think his run of interceptions has gotten into his head. Even with time he's looked off. The passing concepts used in Seattle have actually been solid from Grubb, some things have been goofy but I haven't seen anything egregious. Our QB is going through a slump. Grubb isn't blameless though.

The biggest downfall of Grubb is the lack of running game. His run game is as uncreative as I've seen. The counters are far and few inbetween, the draws are MIA, it looks like something from a techmo bowl playbook.

I think if Grubb stays, Seattle needs to hire a run game specialist. Sort of like the arrangement we had with Cable and Bevell. I'm not so sure on Huff either, though UW did have a lot of top tier lineman in the NFL draft.

Its taken a step back.

We thrive when we push outside the envelope, stretch plays and rely on playmakers to do special things. Whether Geno making a rediculous throw, Walker making a crazy run out of nothing, or JSN improvising a route in a critical moment.

We also struggle most when we fall on the wrong edge of that same sword - Geno holds the ball waiting for an explosive play to pop open (we havent consistently hit explosive plays in a while) but the protection always comes up short. Or Geno tries to force something in the context of a play that has littke chance. Walker bounces runs outside because the history shows inside isnt an option.

And these things are happening (pushing too much) because the offense, whether the playcalls themselves the rhythm of the playcalls, the failed blocking, the lack of identity, etc... little of it is working at a consistently good level.

We dont currently have an offense that can keep a defense off balance. We dont have an offense that can reliably and consistenly control a game. Were it not for late game clutch play (and of late, the defense) this season would be over.

Your point about the deep shots nit being there is important.

Would love to see the offense scheme the big play into the flow of the game. To do thag, it helps to force the defense to respect your run game. To date, we only seem willing to push runs on often telegraphed plays. Thats not going to get Dbs to second guess a play long enough to help get DK or JSN uncovered. The O line also isnt holding up long enough to let the shots play out. We had a nice shot agaisnt the Cards 2 weeks ago to DK that ended in a strip sack. It was close. We have actually been very close wuite a few times on plays that ended in sacks with significant yards for loss.

Hopefully things change here shortly.

Yeah it’s like they only run when it’s clearly a run situation like we need a yard or it’s first down and trying set the tone. It’s always a predictable moment and always predictable

Way too much talent to be not scoring a hell of a lot more points. And the short yardage offense is pathetic. And we are sitting here 12 games in. Defense has been a massive positive, esp. the last month. Offense is about as bipolar as my ex.

This! I understand we have a couple huge Geno supporters(which isn't a bad thing) and the constant narrative is its all Grubbs fault. But when you watch its obvious Geno is playing differently too. He is double clutching and second guessing himself right now there is no way around it. He's in a little slump and not playing to his standards. I said it elsewhere but I agree Spin, I think his high interception numbers are messing with his head right now. He's not throwing in the tight windows, contested throws for fear of another turnover.

Grubb isn't blameless for sure, but either is Geno. The good thing for Geno is one good game and he can be right out of that slump. He's done it before and he can do it again.

Does it mean anything that our wideouts not named DK or JSN have just 8 catches for 63 yards over the past three weeks combined? 7/55 of that is Lockett and then Jake Bobo, the man half this board thinks could replace DK, has one catch for eight yards.

Yeah I'm a little nervous about Cross. For a high end #1 round pick he doesn't seem the part.

Just watched the All-22 film for our offense, and I'm actually feeling more positive about how our offense played against the Jets than I did originally.

Geno actually had a better game than my initial impressions. Our run game was actually more successful than usual. Grubb was calling both more running plays and more play action than has been typical. It felt like it was a more complimentary game plan to our defense and there was no panicking about the hole special teams dug for us.

There were multiple plays where we were just off by the slightest bit from really taking the top off this game. (There were two third down throws to DK that should have been first downs but on one, DK bobbled the ball and had to drop short and on the other, DK made a move to try and turn it to a long gain instead of continuing his route and ended up getting tackled short).

Honestly, I really feel like special teams giving the ball back to New York multiple times without our offense getting a chance and that failed goal line drive really created a misperception about how well our offense did last week.


What I'll want to see is this progress (especially the play calling adjustments) continue into next week. The Arizona game was confusing because a lot of the wrinkles to the run game that Grubb introduced in the San Francisco victory were not used in that game.

I like what you said about the offense being disconnected from the identity, I definitely agree that there something wrong and it involves identity, but I feel like the defense is going to be the identity of this team and it’s going to be similar to the L.O.B. It’s not the same but it has to do with the idea of go ahead and try it and we are gonna stuff you. Our offense does not have that identity yet; we need a line the will take a yard whenever they want it, no take three yards, at will with shear power. We also need a qb who does whatever it takes to stay alive and when time runs out he will run for yards. Refuse to lose the play. That’s the identity they need. Flying around and refuse to fail no matter what it looks like. Our defense has that. We have someone at every level who will take the play into his owns hands. Kat, Spoon, EJ, and Love, they all treat it like they own it, they will fly across the field to finish the play. That’s what geno needs to do, act like he owns it and refuse to be defeated, not stand there in the pocket waiting for something to happen and then go down when the time runs out on the moment, own it.

Bobo? He can’t replace DK, he’s cool cause he’s a no name with a cool name that walked on and out here in the Wild West we root for the underdog, but bobo does best when he’s used as a gadget not a knockout. DK is a physical force. I think our lack of ability to spread the ball around has to do with the awkwardness of our offense. Again no identity. We have nothing that we can lean on and know we can guarantee 3-4 yards, so then we get one dimensional and our plays are low percentage, they look cool but they’re not sustainable, thus we are inconsistent throughout the game. I think one of our most underutilized aspects or players is the TE, particularly AJ Barner. The threat of the TE opens up play action and the run game, how scared are teams that we will throw out of the 13 formation.

I agree on the run game stuff. It seems like it’s close to coming together. Probably Weill never be good this year but feels like it’s close to being an average run game at least potentially. Multiple plays felt close to popping on my initial watch
