And people want to replace the #12 best QB with someone likely in the 30’s-40’s and think that’s an upgrade. That’s insane.
Exactly. A lot of people talk about moving on as if you could just go to Walmart and get a Joe Burrow or Lamar Jackson. It's hard enough to upgrade the O-line. Upgrading the QB is much harder. And then you still have to upgrade the O-line.

The writer is ranking them strictly on 2024 performance. It's not a list of best QBs as they stand right now. I know the post mentions that, but the title makes it sound different.

Bo Nix at #20 is insanity btw. 3919 yards 30 TDs 12 INTs, 430 yards and 4 TDs rushing, led a Broncos team with an absurdly high dead cap hit from their last QB to the playoffs. 19 TDs over the last seven weeks of the regular season. No way there were 19 QBs who had a better season than that.

Yeah, I thought Baker Mayfield #6 and Bo Nix #20 were two of the worst placements.

Every geNO knows, geNO ranks behind: Sam Darnold #13, Brock Purdy #14, CJ Stroud #15, Bryce Young #16, Kyler Murray #17, Tua Tagovailoa #18, Dak Prescott #19, Bo Nix #20, Drake Maye #21, Aaron Rodgers #22, Russell Wilson #23.

At least this article didn't rank Geno in the top ten, whew.

This isn’t the point though it’s not just as simple as one quarterback for another. You have to factor in his age, the historical precedence of signing guys in their mid 30’s to extensions (it’s abysmal y the way) and the money you spend on Geno as a sunk cost that could be used for other areas of need.

The idea that Geno is ahead of a couple of those guys is crazy to me. 12 is within the range of outcomes but man you’re making a ton of concessions for him that you’re not giving others below him to justify it imo.

Anyway I hate that people paint this as Geno or the new guy and that’s the only variable, it’s not

You would think the highest would be 14/15.. considering we didn't make the playoffs because we couldn't score enough points. I say 14/15 because Russ didn't play good either the last part of the year
Yeah I would guess if you polled everyone it would be around there at best. Before last year which was Geno’s worst year nfl execs ranked him 20th in Sando’s poll. It’s possible they move him up because of how others played but we will see.

He had a great season and definitely got better as the season progressed, but the dude was elevated a ton by Sean Peyton - and i say that as no slight to Nix at all. I would actually be thrilled if he was the dude in the wings when Geno moves on. But you could see the holes in his when he played defenses that could out-play the scheme SP drew up for him.
Again, thats no slight. He succeeded on his talent, no doubt, but was often riding with a lot of help from the training wheels SP bolted on for him. And it was the training wheels that got put him in position to get a lot of his great numbers.

Looking forward to seeing his second season. He's got game. But i wouldnt rank him much higher than he is based on just numbers.

I agree, I'm not claiming Nix should be top 10, but 20 is borderline disrespectful for what he accomplished.

Right on. Geno is a good QB. Good to see him getting some respect. He doesn’t get a lot of that around here, but some (not all) of the Geno haters around here believe they are some kind of football savants and that their farts smell like red wine.

Go Geno.

Not believing in the hype doesn't make someone a savant, some of us believe what their gut and eyes tell us. Doesn't make us any smarter OR stupid. What's more entertaining is how bent out of shape people get if you don't bow to the almighty Geno Smith. That's all. I look forward to being wrong, we need good Geno. Please make it so, Geno. 12-15 isn't out of the question at all.
And Nix at 20? Makes any list laughable at best. He had a hell of a rookie season. Def. didn't see that coming. As far as how high someone is ranked based just on numbers, isn't that what some do with Geno? Just sayin.

This phenomena isn’t something I have seen or otherwise read here. I’ve heard this specific claim before, but I haven’t actually seen people claim Geno is almighty or that people should bow to his excellence.

Fair enough. Not that important. Just talking football. We give each other crap from time to time, I like it, it's never personal.
I know I'm prone to exaggerate from time to time :ROFLMAO: 🍺 ✌️

Geno has been consistently in the middle of QB rankings for a while except for his one breakout year where he definitely was a top 10 QB. I mean at this point you see what you get with Geno so none of this is surprising to me.
